What are peoples plans for their remaining trades. I know most like to keep a few for the finals, but with the injuries this week, I think a lot of people will be out of trades completely come finals time (myself included).

I only have the 2 injury concerns this week with Ablett and Porplysia (Deledio and JB hopefully will come up), so I haven't been hit as hard as others, but it still forces my hand with some of the bargains on offer at the moment.

I am thinking of trying something a bit different with my last 4 trades and was interested in peoples thoughts on the strategy. I have no playing reserves in the centres with Myers and Armfield, so I was thinking about grabbing Kane Johnson to serve as a reserve mid for the remainder of the year as he is so cheap. With 2 other trades I am going to trade Porplysia to Franklin and Lloyd to ROK (to make the necessary cash). My final trade will hopefully be Morton to Lucas or someone around his price range as a forward reserve.

So in essence I will be adding 2 pretty good players to my bench as opposed to using rookies when I need a fill in. My ruck reserves are nonexistent, so that is the place it could all backfire but i think a lot of people are in the same boat there. So I guess what I'm asking is - is it a waste having these good players on the bench?

If I did it, my team would look like this:

B: H. Shaw, Milburn, Gilbee, Johncock, S Fisher, Chornes, Bradshaw (Wilkes, SDT)
C: Ablett, Bartel, Dal, Kornes, Cross, Stevens (K. Johnson, Armfield)
R: Cox, Simmonds (West, Meesen)
F: Franklin, JB, Chappy, NG Brown, Deledio, Riewoldt, ROK (Lucas, Gamble)

Sorry for the long post, but would just like to get some feedback on the idea of having very good players on the bench as opposed to rookies. Also interested to hear what other people are planning on doing with the remainder of their trades.

You might want to think about keeping a trade up your sleave for Cornes as aposed to loading up your benches.

I have 6 trades left. Porpz out (most likely for the year) hurts a lot, but I'll bring in ROK who should turn his form around shortly. I'll then downgrade Morton, and upgrade Houli to Ablett. Then I'll upgrade Myers to someone under 500k, such as Johncock (if he's still that price in 2 weeks). That will leave me with 2 trades for finals. If there's no injuries, I'll be able to upgrade Brad Johnson to Richo (given his massive break even, he should hopefully drop a fair bit), and if there is enough cash, Kornes to Hodge. But I expect there to be injuries, so those last two won't be counted on.

My weakest player come finals should be Brad Johnson or Peter Burgoyne.

Yeah you make a good point. Guess I'm hoping he plays out the year, but it is doubtful at this stage. I reckon he owes me :D though and all the other coaches who kept him, but with Port no hope now, he will surely end his season early.

Think you're probably right. I might consider still getting Johnson though as Myers and Armfield aren't looking like returning for quite some time and Ablett being in doubt means I have to do something or take a 0, which I'd rather not if possible. Perhaps I'll hold off on the forward reserve trade and keep at least 1 up my sleeve. Cheers.

I have 3 trades left. With Burton on my list. Will either trade him for Buddy this week or ROK next. Hopefully I remain injury free running into the finals and keep my remaining 2 trades.

Come finals the weak links in my team will be Rioli (yes I know, I was going to upgrade him to buddy but Burton killed that), BJ and Simmonds.

I've got 5 trades left.
I have Porplyzia which means i will have to use 1. I have 2 handy players in rioli and tippet on the bench in the forwards so im not sure wheather to swap gun for gun in Porplyzia for franklin who i can afford or swap Porplyzia for a cheaper player and strenghten my back line which is the weakest area of my team.

On the other 3-4 i have remaining after this week hopefully they stay unused till the finals incase of injury or supspension.

Got 5 left ...

Saving 1 for Ablett
Saving 1 to cash in on a rookie
Using 1 for a forward line upgrade (of either Morton, Valenti or Tippet)
Saving 2 for injuries (Got the likes of Cornes, McLeod, Kennelly, Cox in my side)

3 left. Will use one on Porp if he has surgery. Hope Cornes and Cox play out, otherwise the other 2 will go on them.

I had a plan, a well though out plan until this round ruined that. Started with bloody Josh Head being a late withdrawal (what a waste of a trade that was).

Now I am left with 6 trades, have Houli on the bench who I was going to use for more cash (already have $289k), have Harding in my fwd line who was ready to upgrade, now I'll probably be stuck with him for the rest of the season as my no 7 fwd cos of Burton and Porps.

Getting rid of those two (prob for Franklin and O'Keefe/Murphy) will leave me with 4 trades for finals, so getting rid of Houli for money is a waste but so is having him on the bench for the rest of the year with all that value.

I think I will make those two trades (Franklin this week, O'Keefe next week when he is even lower in price) and assess from there.

Any less than 4, your side must be set. Cause injuries are even more common in the final weeks and you don't want to be playing Cotchin and Tippett in your GF.

5 left.

Will use 2 in the next few weeks, one to downgrade Wellingham, the other to upgrade Palmer or Rioli. Probably go Palmer>Cooney next week.

The final 3 I'll try and hang on to, and if I can then ultimately turn Rioli into a gun. That's the plan anyway.

I have:

Cornes, JMac, Bradshaw, Porplyzia, Ablett, Wellingham, J White, Cox.

All with big injury doubts and most of them missing last week's games.

1 trade left!

LOL.

JMac, JWhite, Cox, Ablett, Bradshaw should all be fine for the next few weeks.

Won't waste the trade till finals, and probably on Chad but who knows.
Very lucky my EMG's have been great.

6 left...
1 for Cornes.
1 to upgrade N.Thompson.
1 to downgrade Cotchin/Buckley/Armitage.
1 to upgrade Cotcin/Buckley/ Armitage.
Remaining to are for injuries but if no one is injured then focus will move to upgrading one or both of Nicoski and Reimers.

I hope like hell that both S. Selwood and Head come in to strenghten the defence this week, then Macca for R17.

I will then be set to hold on as long as possible, might upgrade Simmo if i have the luxury later.

6 trades left

Round 16- Big Mac-> Ottens,
Burton-> Buddy
Round 17-> Porps-> Rok

Will have 3 trades left. Hopefully will not have to use many on the likes of:
Chornes, McLeod, Kerr, Ling, JB, Myers.

Will hope for Valenti, Tippet to keep playing in the fwds.
Myers & C. Moton to be back come sc finals time as backup if needed.
Grimes, Hampson to get a game.

If all goes to plan this will be my final team:

Backs: Chornes, Heater, McLeod, Mattner, Guerra, Birchall, Gram (Hansen,Grimes)
Mids: Ablett, Bartel, Judd, Dal Santo, Kerr, Stevens (Myers, C. Morton)
Rucks: Cox/Sandilands, Ottens (Hampson, Meesen)
Fwds: JB, BJ, Buddy, Chappy, ROK, Pav, Didak (Tippet, Valenti)

How do you think this team will pull up come finals time?

5 left

One to upgrade Burton - aker/nathan brown/rok/medhurst
One to upgrade Palmer - thompson/bartel/harvey
One to upgrade Rioli (running out of time and options - might have to alternate between him tippett and valenti for the rest of the year)

2 to raise cash

5 trades left.

The plan:

Morton out, Ross in and Birdman out, Browndog in

Myers out, U.Jabroni in and Palmer out, Goodes in

Porpz out (if he doesn't return in Round 19), best player available for the cash I have in. Else Stevens becomes best player available for the cash I have in.

Leaves team as follows (with 1 trade for Porpz/Stevens or another injury):

C.Cornes, Shaw, Gilbee, Milburn, Mattner, McLeod, Bradshaw (N.J.Brown, Edwards)

Ablett, Goodes, Hayes, K.Cornes, Cross, Stevens (Cotchin, U.Jabroni)

Cox, Sandilands (Hampson, Meeson)

Pavlich, Riewoldt, J.Brown, Franklin, Chapman, O'Keefe, Porplyzia (Tippet, Ross)

My forward line gives me a stiffy. :o

Rucks are strong.

Midfield is sexy without being awesome. Kirk or Cooney insted of Stevens would have been nice.

My backline has been the bane of my existance.

4 trades left.

Porp, burton, Ablett all injured.
Cornes and Cox a worry.

Obviously keeping ablett.

Porp and Burton out for similar valued players around the 450K mark
Will be doing this in the last week of regular season. Im on top and can afford losses (league my main aim). dont want to trade porp and burton in now and have their replacements get injured.
Leaving 2 spare for possible cornes and cox trades

5 Trades left.
This week; Porp > Buddy (BE:74)

Next week/ possibly week after(depending on what ROK and Cotchin score this week)
Cotchin > Head or the like.
Burton to ROK.

Round 18 (start of finals)

2 Trades left and will have about 200k.
So will probably upgrade Bones to Stiffy and Stevens to Goodes or Cooney come finals time...providing no more of my players go down. (Looking at you, Chad.)

Hows that sound?

**
I was thinking, i could just leave Porps in, save a trade for somewhere else, and upgrade Burton next week. I have 2 forward emergency's playing so id still have a score coming in...plus i got 3 shit teams in my league...
Do you think its worth keeping Porps till R19 or just get Buddy??

My team as it currently stands:
B: Johncock, Bock, Milburn, H.Shaw, Bradshaw, Wonna, Urquhart - E: Wilkes, S.Thompson
C: Bartel, Corey, Judd, S.Black, Lockyer, Palmer - E: Cotchin, Ward
R: Cox, Simmonds - E: Hampson, Meeson
F: Pav, Buddy, Deledio, Riewoldt, Brown, Giansiracusa, Porps - E: Morton, L.Hansen

4 trades left.
i) when urquhart tops out, i'll trade him and probably SDT for a premium backman (goddard or ladson at this stage) and have wilkes as emg. happy to play Wonna as my 7th back.
ii) then will probably wait till finals to use palmer + extra $$$ to upgrade to a premium mid (hopefully kirk, goodes, hodge or cross).

porps has put an absolute spanner in the works, so might have to reconfigure this approach a little....maybe play cotchin as 7th midfielder and use the last two trades on porps to RICHO or ROK.
