just thought id open up for discussion what cats fans thought was a bigger moment in the game...

1 coreys smother: the pies were coming hard, they had a 1 point lead and chris bryan was heading in for a shot from about 35, a 40 meter sprint from corey saves the day with a ripping smother and hanball release, stealing not only a goal but their momentum which was building...

2 Abletts goal: a stroke of genius by the little master, well fed by ottens on the deck ablett was able to run around a magpie defender and snap over his head from about 40 to give the cats back that handy buffer which turned out to be the match winner..

both great plays...which one was more pivotal??

that goal

happened right in front of me (as did the smother), and before the throw in the pies fans who were right there were absolutely giving it to ablett for letting it go out of play. he flicked the back of his hand up to em as he walked back, as if to say "rack off u feral gents'. buckley was staring right at him and as he turned his head ablett gave him a little fend off, ran gathered collected and goaled. it was brilliant. and it shut those pie fans right the hell up.

well done gazza, you've worked hard for this..

Joel Corey's smother, it wasn't just the smother, but it was the way he smothered the ball and still had the composure to retrieve it and pass the ball on , keeping it alive for Geelong. And most certainly save a goal from being scored. And as for little "Gazza" what more can you say!:)

Ablett kicks goals like that every 2nd game, although they are not always the sealer. The smother was something you will only see once a year.

i havent seen a smother like that in ages, i reckon he could nearly hear me screaming from here. i was sitting there watching thinking oh no the pie are gunna get another goal then all of a sudden there is Corey taking a flying dive in front of the ball, taking a tumble and coming up with ball in hand. it was magnificent.
