Play on, Pav

I don't think many of the players would have been able to look Pav and Macca in they eye after last night. They dished up crap for the second half of the season. Most of the players looked disinterested last night. If you can't win for your outgoing captain and Macca, and your vocal supporters, then please GTFO of Freo.

Hope your avatar and sig are a lost bet or you're just a dickhead Reg.

That's complete horse shit to be frank

Disgusting.

What type of person enters into bets like that.
Your head is so far up your own arse I doubt you can even see it clearly. You should be the last person on this board querying a person's character.

The players showed glimpses of the aggression you would have expected in a prelim. The delivery into the forward 50 and in particular to Pav was absolute crap. If you can't put a better effort in for players like Pav and Macca, then you won't ever do it.

The only horse shit I've seen is the second half of our season.

Pav & Macca should both hang up the boots. Pav no longer has the same impact in games. I actually think he played 1 year too long. He should of quit end of last year. He still has a good legacy. But I believe he kept playing due to our dire need of forwards this year. I hope the recruiters actually get it right this year we need McCarthy (without paying overs) but that won't solve all our forward problems.

I know we are all sentimental but sentiment alone aint going to win premierships. It in fact could be to our detriment if we carry people whose best is beyond them. Sorry to say this but its the brutal truth. Anyhow it would be nice if they could be with the club in some other capacity since they are champions.

Unfortunately IMHO last night was evidence enough the club has to address the dysfunction in the forward line. Pav was ineffective when we needed him to be so much more last night. It hurts to type this but I think it's best if Freo' move on now. If we cannot defeat Hawthorn now we need to change things up. He has no impact anymore. Pav and McPharlin are club legends but I think it's time. I believe Sandi looks alright to go around again.

We need some clever list management to remain a relevant side. Other veterans could be in the firing line too. We have to give more opportunity to the young guys coming up and get more games into them. The midfield is still good - we have something to work with. It's not like a full rebuild is required.

Grey and Weller need to come into the fold. I dont know where to start with the forwards.. try to get McCarthy in? Jetta would be great - perhaps a replacement for D. Pearce or just another linebreaker in the team.

We need reliable and consistent goal scoring power.

I say play on Pav I know it's a hard call right now more than ever.Play on in 2016 obviously doesn't have to be every game&that many minuted. But think if Freo can recruit well, bring in Cam McCarthy for one&some others one hopeful big last crack at the big dance may be possible perhaps:)

Pav looks cooked. McPharlin's time is up. I honestly think he'll be holding the team back if he plays on. I don't enjoy typing this but I cannot see how he can improve on a so-so year that he's had. Father time has caught up.

If Freo' somehow land McCarthy for example, why not let him play with Taberner? They might not even go well playing together at the start but that doesn't mean the club shouldnt try to build for the future.
The show goes on and so does footy. Freo' can still remain relevant but some hard decisions have to be made.

He isn't dead

His call for sure, but this time to me it just feels right. We'll be up there next year and he very well could kick the goals to take us to a 2016 flag, but will he be there for our 2nd or 3rd. #29 is our ultimate player, should be first time AFL hall of fame ballot - he has done everything he could & more and not getting a premiership doesn't diminish that in the slightest. The Fyfe, Hill, Walters gen is now and can show their thanks to the man by taking us to the grail.

Don't really know what I want. Will probably will still be useful no matter who we trade in and at times even matchwinner. But those moments will likely be fewer then this year. But don't really want him to be remembered as a player who went on a year too long.

No, I think it would be best if Pav were to retire. It is sad but what is there to be gained by staying?... I can't speak for the man, but I can speak as a club follower and a bit of life experience. When you are the boss you have to be better or at least as good as the followers, time has caught up, there are fewer and fewer occasions where we see the Pav we love to watch, there is nothing to indicate that this will improve next year. That said I reckon he would be a terrific leadership asset for the club, love him to stay on in a coaching role.

Stay pav, and literally play inside 50. Dont bend over - either mark it or bring it to ground. McCarthy / tabs and apeness will run around for you. Cheers

The great man and his body have given their absolute all for our club. I'd expect RTB will now do what he indicated he would do if we were 2 & 8 at Round 10. Play the kids.

I think this is the way we have to start to look at it. Would love to see a completely different forward line setup with some decent sized forwards with plenty of run. I think Taberner and McCarthy could be the beginning of this and Bennell the smaller goal kicking bonus. To have the same set up again next year would probably be the definition of insanity and without a strong recruitment drive this year there really is only one way the club will go and that is not further up the ladder.

Pav's been so massive for this club, and given everything he can. I'm not sure if he's finished yet, or if he feels his body's up to it. But I'll respect his decision and applaud him as a great of the club & the AFL either way. If he does stay on, I'd make it on condition that we never play him as our soul forward target. It's way too hard on anyone, and he was struggling to keep up with it the end of the year.

There's only room for so many players in a side, while Pavs holding down a spot, there's one less opportunity for the next forward. As for him being in a couple of centre bounces on Friday night - when I see that I gotta look the other way. Hawks straight out of the guts - goal. Wasn't in there for the next bounce.
