I hope when round 1 comes Brett Ratten plays Waite, Kreuzer, with Fisher, Betts, Fevola all in the forward line. Carlton are much better team with Waite playing at CHF. Its ridiculous playing him at CHB he is a 35 - 40 goals year player.

We need Waite more at CHB, and i think that he is pretty much equal at either side of the ground. He may kick 40 goals down forward a year, but how many will he stop on defence.
Wasn't the best tonight, but was just about B.O.G. last week playing down back.

Waite is a pea-brain and shouldn't be played within 50 metres of either ends of the ground.

He's a "dumb" footballer, and you can really see that when he is out on the ground. Just lacks that lateral vision that is needed. However, saying that, i'd still play him at CHF. We are just a much more dangerous outfit when he plays there. Carlos, Thornton and Jamieson can be the 3 talls in defence, with Bower, Scotland, Grigg, Walker, Austin, Anderson and Armfield all fighting it out for the other 3 spots back there.

Waite will play at CHB this year. Ratts and Waite have already said this a number of times. The only reason he played up forward tonight was because Franklin was rested after quarter time.

We can't kick. We can't ****ing kick!

Also

We have no concept of the state of play around us. We play on for the sake of it and get run down time after time. Even our better players. In cricket parlance we don't know where our off stump is.

for me the dumb footballers are Wiggo and JR......both athletically quite good but not smart enough to get where the ball is.

Ratts wishes he, JW or anyone else knew where to play JW.
1 week he is good at CHB or CHF, the next week terrible.
Switch him around at half time and he seems to play better.

Makes it realy hard for ratts to plan......he must wake up on gameday thinking "which JW do I have today....the one who can play CHF or the one who can play CHB"

great simile and agree with other sentiments. a number of times tonight watching the play pan out, i found myself yelling "your hot, shepard someone" but it didnt happen. a number of palyers seem to lack awareness

That is what frustrated me more than anything tonight. I definitely put it down to experience but seeing it is so annoying, they just need to judge what is going on around them a lot better. We gave away a few goals early in the game from stupid mistakes like that, deer in headlight stuff.

Exactly!!!

Waite is an instinctive footballer. Not a tactician able to position himself properly as a CHB so that he can stop his opponent and also create drive off the backline, which is what you'd want him to do to make up for the sacrifice of not having him up forward. Waite's strength is that he has an X-factor and needs a top line defender to stop when he is up and going. He creates a bit of chaos in the forward line that makes it that much harder for the opposition defence to play their system.

I think Ohailpin can do just a good a job at CHB in terms of shutting down the big mobile CHFs as Waite.

I agree av76. Carlos, Thornton and Jamieson can rotate around the opposition 3 talls. I just don't know Ratten and co. are so keen to play Jarrad back.
