The more quality midfielders we add into our side, the better we become. As Hirdy said when BJ came across, he didn't have to dominate every single game, his presence in the midfield by itself meant that the opposition had to also focus on him, and couldn't just concentrate on tagging the usuals (Stanton, Watson).

Watson, Stanton, BJ, Heppell, Melksham, NDS = amazing!

I'm doubtful we'd secure NDS, but if we did I'd be snapping up the odds on Essendon for the flag

I find it funny that EFC has been linked to just about every player this trade period.. the reality is that GWS were in the best position to get Shaw.. as he was contracted... it would have taken a three team trade to get him and as Adams was on the table.. why would C'Wood bother??

Realistically this is what FA brings.. the chance for player to find new homes late in their careers..

I am still hopefully we can make an 11th hour plunge for NDS and get him across.. would be a fantastic pick up!

Unfortunately the Crameri trade has held everything up because WBD won't come to the party..

I think Vince would fill a need; not a star by any stretch but can run hard both ways all day.

We really lack this type, probably only Stanton qualifies as having a serious engine amongst our midfield group....hence why we're chasing guys like Vince and Montagna....NDS has a good motor but not sure about his willingness to run defensively. Vince would instantly go past the likes of Howlett, Kommer, Merrett - wouldn't have an issue getting a game.

I can't imagine the rumours are true but you'd really have to think about it if pick 47 was enough to get it done.

Ummm pick 3 phone????

I just can't believe how unreasonable the dogs are at the trading table.. I doubt any team will want to deal with them like ever again..

All seriousness... it has to be 22(25) + either fringe player or swap of 3/4th round picks..

Can't just offer up one 2nd round pick and think that will be enough to secure a guy that you are offering 600K a season too.. just crazy..

seems doubtful to me that Essendon would want to waste a list spot on a 'fringe player'. young player sure, established good player sure, dylan addinson, no thanks. and i dont see how a token late round pick swap is coming to the party. it's just a really minor thing.

it's pretty clear that essendon are in no rush to make a move on the trade, and why would they be. dont try to blame it on the dogs. we're making a sensible move to hold off the trade because doing it now accomplishes nothing. we're in no rush. it's not the dogs not coming to the party. it's just essendon taking their time because there's no reason not to.

as for pick 22/25. I'm not that happy with it, but thanks to the wonderful AFL trading system which prevents the trading of future draft picks which could help even out trades like this, i'm not seeing any other option. The dogs have made a move at a really smart time for them, in terms of what picks they have and aiming at an out-of-contract player. is it fair for Essendon? no not really. but that's life. Sometimes you make a move that could be considered predatory and will screw over somebody. Essendon shouldn't think twice about doing the same thing in the future. take yr hit and move on and start planning yr own predatory hit. we tried to do it with Caddy, although there was a massive barrier there with Caddy being contracted. we shouldnt moan about how it's unfair and how the dogs arent coming to the party and dogs fans shouldnt moan about essendon leaving open the chance of something better coming up.

In true bulldog fashion, they want to come to the party but wont bring any food or drinks, that seems to be the problem.

Great news about Chapman, absolute top class work Bombers....So happy, now for Dal Santo as a free agent and garlett at the draft...

I cannot believe that this thread has devolved to such a point.

Yeah, I liked it better when we hatched a plan to use Crameri, Gumbleton, Myers and Jetta to get pick 2 and some Freo kids. Now we just need to land NDS and use pick two on James Aish.

IN
Chapman
NDS
James Aish
Mellington
Mitchie

Out
Myers
Crameri
Gumbleton
Jetta
Round 3 pick

I can't believe this lasts a whole month.

I heard Adelaide might be looking to trade Dangerfield for Hardingham. I'm not sure if I'd agree though, Hardy is a B-grader with lots of potential to be an A-grader, and I can't see Danger adding much to the team.
