For mine I would rather just get a depth ruck in the rookie draft, get a mature VFL/SANFL/WAFL ruck. Not sure I would spend a mid range pick this year on a ruck when there is a severe drop between the top ruck (Lobb) and the rest. There are a few rucks next year that could be picked up. Heavyside is a high possesion player who can kick a goal, we could do worse at 55.

Fair enough in that case I'd be taking Marsh and Conlon in the ND then as both have massive upside and I see them complimenting Daniher really well in the forwardline.

Thats why youd move onto Lang as the next best option on my list.

Common Sense i would have thought. He might be left at the saints pick with another player they really like.

FWIW i see a bit of Hamish Hartlett in him that i quite like.

If we had a pick around 12-13, I wouldn't be disappointed taking Durmont there, rate him extremely highly!

Would be happy with Marsh and Conlon/Heavyside. Marsh as the forward/mid that we need and fills a need.

Maybe have a look at this. Not saying these guys have any idea but it shows that the quality probably runs 5 spots deeper than you seem to think. I think we will get something quite nice at pick 26 especially if we opt for a small/medium type.

The 30 doesnt include Garlett which is every chance at 24 or Lang who id be more than happy with. They have Dunstan at pick 28 and Dumont 22, Crouch 23 id be happy with any of them they arent exactly completely out of reach. You might say they will go earlier but that means someone else high up has to fall and there will be at least one surprise in that top 30 list that people havnt really noted IMO - always is.

To a point I see where you are coming from but Dunstan surely has to go earlier, there is no real weakness in his game. Especially that St Kilda will be looking for mids at 18/19, so will every other side around that mark. Could be wrng, can't see Dunstan being there. If he is we should take him.

im sorry, whats the upside?

2 plus 2 equals?

Who would u take in a draft as first pick out of Hodge, Luke Ball or a Chris Judd who has dodgey shoulders

Who would you take out of Selwood or at the time a fit Gumbleton

Who would you take Heppell with OP or Who's that guy from Richmond :)

At least it is a mid! I don't want us to reach for a tall, especially Apeness! Lang wouldn't be my choice but he is a decent pick.

Actually my comment before was directed at some people.

With 26 I want a midfielder, preferably Matt Crouch but I'd like any of Dumont, Dunstan, Hartung (should be long gone), Garlett, Kennedy-Harris etc.

I don't want big Michael A Penis though. Don't need a ruck so bad that we waste our only good pick on one.

Marsh seems like a boom or bust player. Not a fan of taking him at 26, as our list is solid but unspectacular. Another mid or a small forward thanks ...

We do need a ruck actually. What do we do if Paddy and/or Bellchambers go down with an injury? Can't use Daniher there too much or the forwardline suffers, same goes if we used Hooker or Carlisle in there either as that hurts the defence. I agree its probably not wise to pick one up with 26 (I'd like us to use that on Marsh) and I doubt any of those you've listed would be available except JKH.
For mine I'd go
Pick 26: Marsh (The ideal Crameri replacement and can actually rotate off a wing).
Pick 55: Nankervis (Big bodied would provide an immediate back up ruck/fwd option).
Rookie Rick 1: Conlon (If he's available in the RD, WANT).
Rookie Pick 2: Fuller/Heavyside/Cavarra.

I think you misunderstood. We definately need a ruckman to be that backup, but we shouldn't waste our only good pick on a bloke who won't play much for the next 4-5 years. Ryder and Belly are two top quality ruckman, so we don't really need to take another high quality one. Sikora or Brown would be fine.

Honestly I see a few holes in our list, I think we are a tad one paced, this was evident when Dempsey went down, hopefully Edwards and Aylett can provide something along with Dal-G.

Obviously losing Crameri and Gumby hurts our forward depth for KPP.

If one of our rucks get injured we are in a bit of bother. I'm hoping this can be rectified in rookie.

And the final hole is we need someone to help Jobe, we strongly pursued Caddy 2 years ago for a reason, I still think Browne could be that man...

True, I dunno I'm not sold on either Sikora or Brown really. Brown is very, very raw and found it difficult to adapt to the speed of the game in the VFL (makes me worried he might be one of those players who's good at VFL but iffy at the top level), and Sikora is apparently one of those ruckman that is slow and lumbers around (can't see how well he'd be able to compete against the more athletic rucks in the comp).

BJ has played that role nicely, helping Jobe. But as far as the younger players go, I have hopes that Myersy will eventually replace Jobe when the sad day occurs that he retires. Kav and Hams are a couple of others.

Unfortunately the reality is if we get a real mobile ruck then Sydney or someone will come knocking in a years time, seeing as they only really have Pyke and Derickx who aren't the most mobile athletes going around. I feel we just need a decent trundler (Sikora or another mature aged ruckman from the state leagues) to play that back up role (Think what Hille was this season).

True but at the same time you don't get a back up ruck who is slow as a wet week because you're worried about them being pinched by another club once their contract expires. Besides as Bomber, etc. have said the side needs more speed and x-factor so a big-bodied but athletic ruckman would probably be the way we'd go.

Disagree, I think our list is at a stage where we can gamble on Garlett or Marsh. The more I think about it, the more I want Marsh at 26.

We need a ruck, it is more a question of how much. Do we need it that much that we pay a big price for one (26)..or are we happy with a rookie one. I am more the 2nd option, I would rather pick a ruck out of the VFL, we only really will use them if we get an injury anyway, we don't need to spend big on a ruck.

I like the list you have listed though!
