For 600k you want a top 25 player.
Turn it up, on average every club would have minimum three to four players around or over 600k a year. Some may only have two some may have four or five multiply that by 18 clubs and you are well over 50 let alone 25.

Clubs just dont hand out 600k to a player without reason, Martin is worth every penny based on past output and ability and its only going to get better :) . There wouldn't be a club in the comp that would find the 600k in their cap to get him if he was on the open market.

Topic is mute anyway, not going anywhere I just wanted to have my 2c worth when I was made aware of the inaccuracies in this thread. Done.

Melksham is who I'd consider most important. He's playing the sort of footy that makes our looking elsewhere for other midfielders unnecessary. We just need Myers to join him and we will have more than enough.

That's not true at all. 600k is a gigantic contract under this salary cap. 450-500k + and you'll find plenty, but I'd say not many if any clubs would have more than 2 on 600k + except maybe the expansion teams who are a false economy anyway. Geelong wouldn't even have Selwood on 600k+. We'd have Goddard and Watson only. Maybe Fletch with the vets list.

Dusty will probably be worth 600k at some point. At this stage, not even close to it. He and his manager are putting Richmond in a horrible position, and I really feel bad for you guys. Either you pay him his 600k which sets a nasty precedent for other players and will likely cost you a player or two down the line, or you lose an incredible talent before he's really started hitting his straps.

He will be staying for around the 500 mark.

There were 26 players on 600k or more in 2012 according to the AFL Annual Report. Eight of those were earning over $1m.

So basically one to two players per team, with the expansion teams probably a little more due to front-loading of contracts and their youngsters being on low contracts.

Dunno if it has been said, but Dusty doesn't seem like the sharpest tool in the shed. He also likes to enjoy his extracurricular activities.

Maybe we can get him on the cheap by letting him read the charge sheet the AFL sent us. If he thinks that's the norm, he might play for minimum contract.

Fair to say he s worth a lot closer to that 600 than Hurley is to the reported 550 he s on. Yet to be top 10 in bf or kick 30 goals in a season WoW

He was 3rd 2 years ago

Looks like the point of this conversation, if there ever was one, is now formally over with reports on the AFL website of Dustin due to resign with Richmond in the near future for two years. Of course we can always resurect it in 2015.

The moment he officially re-signs, this will be shut. :thumbsu:

Let's see how Dusty goes with Mick's injuries.

How am I off that mark about Polec.

Three years on the list and he has hardly played a game,

To be fair, he has been constantly injured since joining the club. I don't even remember him actually completing a pre season. Has played the last few weeks in the reserves and shown a fair bit. We all got a bit scared when we though he was injured again a couple weeks back. But he played last weekend and performed very well against the Swans reserves side.

He seems to be settling in at Brisbane now. If you had asked me earlier in the year if I thought he would be gone, I would have said yes. Now I'd probably lean to no.

I'd be curious to know your thoughts on what guys like Crameri, Pears and Gumbleton would be worth? All would fill a big need for us. Do you think Gumbleton or Pears would be best 22 next year?

If we don't lose our picks, I think Crameri will go to the dogs. Gumbleton would be a 2nd round pick hopefully.

We need a good lead-up flanker, especially if Crameri leaves. Brisbane really only have Bewick of good quality, but I doubt he'll be traded. Very good player
