I purchased a mebership yesterday and got Bomber TV with it. Will watch the game when I get it sorted out (having some problems atm) then will do my player (Welsh). Is there any way to get the game via any other medium bar subscribing to Foxtel?
JThoughts on Welsh: 16d, 8m, 1t, 1g.
Played in the forward line early, kicking a goal and doing some alright things around half forward. Made a couple of poor decisions regarding disposal in the forwad line with one notable turnover, but to be fair had some good ones too. Went missing a bit during the middle bit of the game from what a appeared to be the middle of the 2nd to the middle of the 3rd at which point I think he was moved to the backline (hard to tell when watching highlights) and got a bit of it on the wing and in the middle. Once there he started to have a bit more of an impact and looked much better with the ball, his decision making looked solid during the latter part of the game. Had two fine moments where he took a solid grab between CHB and FF that stopped a very good Adelaide thrust. And ran of HB receiving in the middle to hit Lucas on the **** to set up his 6th. That was the best thing he did in the game. All in all I'd give his game a passing mark of 6.5/10 with a solid contribution.
Who was his opponent?
I know he started on Bassett.
Well put Longy. As I always have 2 say, Welsh does his job week in, week out. You can't ask for much more than that.Would that be the Basset that won AA honours last season?
The Basset that was a major contributor to Adelaide's success last season?
You see (and this isn't a direct crack at drew), this is the thing that piss me off about Essendon supporters in their opinions of Welsh. As soon as Welsh turns the ball over or handballs poorly he is harshly critisised, and yes he does that and it one aspect of his game he should improve.
But James Hird turns the ball over, Dustin Fletcher turns the ball over, Brent Stanton turns the ball over.
No one ever says, Andrew Welsh did a brilliant job at shutting down his opponent and got a bit of the footy as well.
Nathan Basset is one of Adelaide's most important players, he sets them up. He makes Rutten and the likes better players with his capacity to zone off. Last season he played the game Dustin Fletcher played last week.
Welsh took him out of the game, he dominated him. While doing that he won the footy and created opportunities at goal. He made the job of Lucas and Lloyd a whole lot easier, how many times did Lucas have to mark against two opponents?
I actually can't recall a single time that happened. And that was because Welsh was smart enough in his own game to take Basset away from the contest and at times get dangerous himself.
I wouldn't be at all suprised if Welsh got first or second billing in the B&F votes for last week. Probably second behind Lucas. Matthew Lloyd has said a few times in the media this week how good Welsh was and how vital his role was. I'm glad the club and our captain recognise the job Welsh did and has done in the past, even if our fans don't.
hopefully his bf critics sit back and take notice
they'll probably think of some crap to throw in there
