fair point

i'd like to know where lovett's opponent was

huffing and puffing most likely, the F50 was pretty clear from memory apart from Scotty maybe and as soon as the ball was turned over Lovett sprinted forward, lucky for him it worked out well

yer we moved it quickly out of defence and pev spotted up lucas inside 50 with a nice long pass

I dont think anyone has mentoned him yet but slatterys game on burton was great, a very important player to the adelaide foward line and slattery was great on him.

Another grand performance in defence by Fletch. With Mal playing deep, The Dustbin certainly seem to relish the chance to play further up the ground. Looks to be playing the quarter back role in defence, propelling and setting up play. Had 26 touches, all of them were quality.

A near flawless display. 9/10

I purchased a mebership yesterday and got Bomber TV with it. Will watch the game when I get it sorted out (having some problems atm) then will do my player (Welsh). Is there any way to get the game via any other medium bar subscribing to Foxtel?

bigpond members can get it on the afl website

Just watched the game on bigpond so I only saw the extended highlights, but with EFC screwing up my membership (which included BomberTV) its all I've got.

Thoughts on Welsh: 16d, 8m, 1t, 1g.

Played in the forward line early, kicking a goal and doing some alright things around half forward. Made a couple of poor decisions regarding disposal in the forwad line with one notable turnover, but to be fair had some good ones too. Went missing a bit during the middle bit of the game from what a appeared to be the middle of the 2nd to the middle of the 3rd at which point I think he was moved to the backline (hard to tell when watching highlights) and got a bit of it on the wing and in the middle. Once there he started to have a bit more of an impact and looked much better with the ball, his decision making looked solid during the latter part of the game. Had two fine moments where he took a solid grab between CHB and FF that stopped a very good Adelaide thrust. And ran of HB receiving in the middle to hit Lucas on the **** to set up his 6th. That was the best thing he did in the game. All in all I'd give his game a passing mark of 6.5/10 with a solid contribution.

Notes on the game:

Leroy Jetta had an outstanding debut. I think it was the 2Q where he got smashed by Basset, got straight up and contested which resulted in him winning the footy and setting up another Lucas goal. Then backed it up minutes latter by being smashed by Basset again, got the free went back and slotted it. THEN went off to get treatment.

The forward line pressure was fantastic once again added to buy the tackling of the likes of Jetta.

Our backline looks fukn awesome with Fletch playing up the ground.

The midfield played well and broke even or beat Adelaide. This is something EFC fans haven't been able to say for a long time. Winderlich impressed.

The Crows got to within 2 goals late in the game, and the boys stood up to win comfortably. Once again something we haven't seen in a long time.

Andrew McLeod. Had no answer for him all game.

Jules, your avatar is giving me a hard on. Every time I read one of your posts at work I have to sit papers over my lap.

Who was his opponent?

Would that be the Basset that won AA honours last season?
The Basset that was a major contributor to Adelaide's success last season?

You see (and this isn't a direct crack at drew), this is the thing that piss me off about Essendon supporters in their opinions of Welsh. As soon as Welsh turns the ball over or handballs poorly he is harshly critisised, and yes he does that and it one aspect of his game he should improve.

But James Hird turns the ball over, Dustin Fletcher turns the ball over, Brent Stanton turns the ball over.

No one ever says, Andrew Welsh did a brilliant job at shutting down his opponent and got a bit of the footy as well.

Nathan Basset is one of Adelaide's most important players, he sets them up. He makes Rutten and the likes better players with his capacity to zone off. Last season he played the game Dustin Fletcher played last week.

Welsh took him out of the game, he dominated him. While doing that he won the footy and created opportunities at goal. He made the job of Lucas and Lloyd a whole lot easier, how many times did Lucas have to mark against two opponents?

I actually can't recall a single time that happened. And that was because Welsh was smart enough in his own game to take Basset away from the contest and at times get dangerous himself.

I wouldn't be at all suprised if Welsh got first or second billing in the B&F votes for last week. Probably second behind Lucas. Matthew Lloyd has said a few times in the media this week how good Welsh was and how vital his role was. I'm glad the club and our captain recognise the job Welsh did and has done in the past, even if our fans don't.

Well put Longy. As I always have 2 say, Welsh does his job week in, week out. You can't ask for much more than that.
