A big kid with a huge amount of talent, I'd love to see him get some games this year. He's raw, and so he'll need some time to adapt his frame to top-level footy, but I expect/hope that he'll be an impressive and regular part of our defence in 2019.

Got all the tools for a KP
Pack mark, massive kick, reads the play, moves well

Improving nicely

Yep, he loves a run and luckily he's good at it. I remember the beautiful bounce and run he took against Williamstown last year, not long after his pack mark, and both of these things were a sight to behold.

He'll surely work at getting more precision with that booming kick this year, as well as tightening up his defensive game a bit.

Sam to be the man

Comes across as terrific individual

Does anyone have any insight into how the club/coaches think Sam is going?

Definitely raw, but huge potential apparently. Then again, we've been through quite a few young blokes with potential in recent years.

I was also concerned that two(?) of the training reports mentioned Sam struggled (vomited?) in some sessions. Could have been particularly challenging sessions on hot days, which I think can be excused. He's a fair skinned redhead - I know how hard it can be to physically exert in the sun on hot days.

He's our rep to play tennis over the weekend then :p

Vomitting isn't a bad sign. While it may suggest his endurance isn't great, it also suggests that he's willing to push himself harder than most. Some of the great gut runners, do so on guts that have been wretchedly emptied.

I remember going to a Training Session and Swan could not finsh the Warm-Up and Looked like he was Throwing Up

I was initially worried too, but after thinking it over recently I’m of the same mind as sr36 in that it shows a willingness from him to push himself beyond his limits. I’m pretty excited about that.

I suspect that on this occasion it was for a different reason than McLarty's vomitting.

The biggest potential issue I see is not the indication of his endurance but instead the implications on his physical development. Surely that'd hinder his muscle growth and so forth? Can't say I'm an expert in this at all though.

Fairly sure the reports are he’s only thrown up during TT’s. I don’t think it’s something that happens every training session so I doubt it’s an issue.

Ben Cousins used to throw up regularly during games. Though that could also have just been his body purging the drain cleaner and battery acid inside.

Or that he was a champion player on field who physically pushed his body to the limit.
I can still see him hunched over on the boundary after an interchange.
As a gut runner, he was without peer in the modern era.

I always wondered whether he had a spew after he ran from the booze bus. Like it was ingrained into him to do it. Spew, I mean. Not run from the cops...Well that too.

nothing wrong with Vomitting see players doing it during games now and then maybe pushing himself to hard

At his height he can easily make wheelie bins ;)

(But he is such a good boy he’d never get into trouble)
