Just trying to sort out my 4th forward, 5th back and 4th mid at the moment. Basically, I'm changing Houlihan between forward and back to accommodate whichever combination.

1) J Selwood + Bock
2) T Tuck + Pavlich + 60k
3) J Selwood + D Thomas + 47k
4) J Selwood + Adcock + 60k

At the moment I have option 1, with a pretty rock-solid defence, but I don't know if I should be having 5 premium defenders (Bock considered premium).

Thoughts?

I think it is fine. I have 6 premium backs (is Bock and Newman count as a premium). There isn't a huge amount of rookies in the backline, and you could mount a case for plenty of forwards (Yarren,Hogan,Walker,M Brown,Sidebottom,Ziebell just to name a few).

I would probably go for Adcock.

Waite + Yarran + 20k vs Mundy + Krakoeur

I think Waite will average 85 this year, so is the better keeper (Mundy 75-80). Yarran was drafted to fill a hole, so should play - especially considering Gartlett didnt get elevated. Krak however will score a lot better and will be the better cash cow.

Thoughts?

Waite I think gets lock down roles eg R1 don't expect a high score as he is more than likely to be following Richo but Waite has great potential. Prob greater scoring potential than Mundy.

Yarran will he be on the field for you? do you have good bench rookie that you are happy with if he doesn't play? as you have said should play alot this season = $cow$

Mundy has burnt alot of people in the past, but will he up his av this year? Mundy is a calulated risk and i think a good one as he looks to be moving into the middle although imo he won't set the world on fire he could possibly rise his av to be a good keeper in the back line.

Krak has impressed in the pre-season and looks to start R1. Has a history of soft tissue injury but you only need him for 8-12 rounds. If he plays will be a great cow. Chad has said Krak has been the player to step up and impress him this pre-season.

All good picks imho it comes down to which one/s you feel most comfortable with and suit the structure of your team.

cheers

Not sure if it helps you, but IMO D. Thomas has the most potential this year, but is the riskiest. Thomas by all reports is going to be played where-ever he can get his hands on the ball. It is important for him to get into the game early and if that means putting him at HB, then MM has said he'll do this. Whether he comes of age this year, we just dont know.

Cloke, whilst having a good pre-season is going to get plenty of attention this year and with no Rocca, it aint going to be easy for him. Having said that he does look good.

Roughead, Well safe as houses i think. With Buddy around, Roughead will get 2nd defender and fly under the RADAR a little. Roughead may find himself floating back early in the year to cover for injuries to the Hawks defence which will increase his scoring potential also.

Tough one but safety Roughead and potential Thomas.

Hope helps, just my thoughts though:thumbsu:
Appreciate it Thunder. :thumbsu:

I was actually leaning more towards Roughie.

Mundy + Hille. I just dont see HMac scoring that well this year.

Enright + Bruce + Skipworth vs Fisher + Swan + Collier

Im not sold on Enright - with Hurley and Hunts injuries, his role in the team is uncertain. Skipworth is a much safer smokie than Collier however.

I haven't had a lot of success in the past with this thread in terms of people answering me, but I'll throw this comparison up in the air.

Ablett, J. Brown and ROK vs Gibbs, Deledio and Franklin

I'm currently considering both of the above options.

With the first option, I get 3 keepers which is a bonus. Ablett is obviously a star but is very pricey, Brown is perhaps underpriced for a player of his ability at his best, and ROK is a very good consistent option for a keeper.

With the 2nd option, there is one less keeper to start with in the midfield, but 2 forwards that are potentially much better keepers than the 2 that I would have with the Ablett option.

I'm currently leaning towards the 2nd option because I think that Gibbs could make the transition from very good DT scorer to potential premium, and if he doesn't, I feel that he will be good enough to rise in price a substantial amount which would enable a simple trade to a midfield premium who has dropped in price. Not to mention, as I said, that Deledio and Franklin are better options than Brown and ROK, IMO.

Option 2 also saves me some money, which whilst it isn't much, puts me in a more comfortable position with cash left over.

So, as I said, I'm currently leaning towards the Gibbs/Deledio/Franklin option, but am tempted by the Ablett factor.

Anyone's thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

I would go the second option. Gibbs should be a keeper this year and you can always trade for Ablett later on. Deledio and Buddy are much better options than ROK and J Brown (both getting on a bit now).

Have to take into consideration Ablett's captaincy ability as well. Personally would go with number two simply for durability. Gibbs and Deledio have great durability records, Franklin is a little sketchier (at uni, havent got any stats with me) but still played all 22 games of the H&A season IIRC.

Ablett missed 3 games last season, Brown may be underpriced but always starts the season of slowly and always seems to pick up a niggling injury. ROK is the durability king but still doesn't make up for Ablett and Brown.

Gibbs and Deledio still have room for improvement, Gibbs in particular could bring his 87 average up into the vicinity of 95+ and I beleive Deledio could move into the 105+ range. ROK will stay about the same, and Brown will easily improve but I can't trust his body to hold. Just my opinion. Option 2 seems the more logical choice, only downside is you lose the premium of the premiums captain option in Ablett. If you already have a solid captain option ie. Bartel, Cox, Swan type player in your team it should be ok for the first 6-8 rounds or so before you can bring in another one. Hope this helps Jeremias :).

I'm not sold on Enright or Bruce this year. Fisher, Swan seems like a much stabler option - and Skipworth v Collier is just a kicker.

Ablett and T.Tuck vs S.Tuck and D.Wells?

Ablett + T Tuck.

I dont think Wells will turn into a keeper, so will require a trade anyway. Better of going with the better keeper, who is also a great captain option.

That's a long term goal though - what do you think the combined score of each will be weekly?

Hey guys I am trying to finish my team off and have only one forward left to pick.
I have $226K left to spend. Need a guy who is going to start round 1 and keep his spot.
Im thinking one of these guys

John Anthony
Skipworth
Mitch Clark

Any thoughts on who would be the best option??????

5th backman cant decide

adcock/mundy/malceski/m.clarke/drummond/houli

and mid priced centreman

n.jones/d.pearce/n.foley/b.vince/schammer

thoughts please

I would go with Adcock, he would be a more reliable option than the rest and his pre-season form hasn't been too bad either.

As for your mids i would go with either pearce or foley. Pearce has done very well in the pre-season, averaging 85.5 (with his lowest score being 78). If he can keep this form up he would be a great pick-up especially for his price. Foley on the other hand racks up possessions and now with cousins in the team, should have more space to move. However IMO Foley is not a dter, he handballs way to much and needs alot of possessions to reach 90+. So it comes down to who you think will do better and also who you like better.

Had Grimes locked in my team, until this morning where we all learned the bad news that he is out of the start of the season... given the lack of depth in the backline, and the injury sounds indefinite, I'm not going to take the chance on him.

Using Houlihan as my pivotal player in forward/back selections, I'm now going to shift him back into the backline to replace Grimes. So that leaves the forwards open... What are peoples thoughts on these combinations? I already have Ablett, Kornes, Gibbs and 2 rookies in the mids, and 3 400k+ players, skippy, higgins and rookie on the field in the fwds.

1) Krakouer (definite best 22?) & Swan
2) Butler & Richo

Thoughts?
Cheers!

Could someone please let me know a little about the "magic number" which determines players price. What is it this year, and does it change for higher or lower ranked players?

thanks

Kane Cornes and Aaron Sandilands

or

Joel Selwood and David Hille?

Atm I'm leaving towards option 2.

What are your thoughts?
2 easily.

Daniel Cross vs Bradd Dalziell

Im really leaning to Dalziell because he's unique but he's still young and I dont know if I can trust him..
