Corey, T.Tuck, Skipworth v Swan, Robinson, Harvey
Corey, T.Tuck, Skipworth if Robinson is going to be in your 22. If not, then Swan, Robinson, Harvey.

Hayes vs Bruce.

Hayes - Is a gun but may be getting a bit old (29yrs old this year)

Bruce - Another gun and is also 29(?) this year. Had a slow start to the season in '08, but posted some pretty decent scores after that. Has had a couple of injury plagued seasons in the past few years but is a gun.

I cannot split the 2!

Yes, Robinson is going to be in my 22.

Hayes for mine, but probably because I'm a bit biased. I just love the way he goes about his footy. I think that Cornes/Cross/Cassisi/Boyd/Selwood provide good options around that price aswell.

Then definitely Corey, T.Tuck, Skipworth. I think Tucks place in the Hawks' 22 is much more secure then Robinsons in Carltons.

On Hayes, how's he been going this pre-season? Any injury concerns?

Alright guys,

Im going to give up some of my smokies, Id like some opinions.

Nathan Foley - Done well preseason, however should cop a tag come rnd 1. Unsure how he will score this year but I would expect similar average at a minimum.

Danyle Pearce - Port Adelaide youngster. Hes one quick cookie and appears to be racking up some big scores in the NAB cup. Suprising like Kerr in looks but in a team where hes not going to get a tag. Peoples thoughts on him?

Boak - Highly talked up, but I fail to see him showing value as far. 25 days left to make it back to my team but Danyle is looking to present a much better option and save me some coin.

T. Tuck - Only played 9 games. However hes having a ripper preseason. At $276k he could offer alot but has alot of risk for a $300k player with only 9 games behind his belt.

T. Selwood - Hes cheap, his average took a punishing last year. at $235 hes cheap and hes played alot. Hes also having a good preseason. Not fantastic but at his price could be a good option over a rookie.

Id like everyone elses opinion on the above. Im going to field 3 of the above in my starting 22 and would like opinions on who would best fill. I'll have Rich + 1 on the pine.

Now for my forwardline.

Bate: Scored very well preseason, named to play some midfield time. Seems abit inconsistent in the past but has been strong in the NAB cup.

Sylvia: Another Melbourne whos potentially a good buy but his preseason hasnt kept him in my team.

Brennan: Scored well preseason, should be solid for 21+ games. Finished last season well.

Fev: Strong looking Carlton side and I love Fevs boot. Relies alot of goals for his scores though. I think he could potentially improve abit on last year.

Roughead: Hawthorns quite strong the the roughy could improve. Not sold on ROughy and Fev as much as the others again both rely abit on goals and supply for scores which could lead to inconsistency should the supply dry up.

Of the above midprice forwards im considering 2 of. I would like peoples thoughts and opinions on them.

At the moment im leaning Foley, Tuck and Pearce.
Fwds im leaning towards Bate and Brennan.

Help appreciated.

Decipher- I would go with what you have ATM except I'd choose Boak over Pearce. Just a gut feeling though, probably since I had Pearce last year and he killed me.:(

Foley and Waite

vs

Knights and Mundy

I've gone option 1 ATM. I'm not too sure about Foley but I definitely like Waite. In his last 6 games of 08 he averaged 91 (averaged 99 if you don't included the round 22 game vs Hawthorn), so I think at only $354k he is a good pick. I think Knights is a really good pick aswell though. What do others think? Cheers.

I think people are overrating Knights way too much. Sure he can score the 100's but he is so unreliable. He can get injurred and also have those games where he just doesnt want the footy. Also think when players such as VB and others get back he want be used as much.

Go check out the Brisbane board, find out if Polkinghorne will play games. He's probably the better DT player, but Rich is pretty much guaranteed a spot.

Enright + S Thompson vs McPhee + Joel Corey/Ablett

Im a little worried about Enrights role this year. With Tom Harley out for a fair stint, he might play as that lock-down small defender. He played that role against Port Adelaide, completely shutting Motlop out of the game. If he isnt rebounding, he wont score that well.

With Essendons wealth of tall forward options, McPhee should play down back again, and as he has shown in previous years, tends to score heavily from that position. Obviously Ablett/Corey is an upgrade on Scotty Thompson too.

Thoughts?

Personally Id go with the second option. Like you said McPhee will probably go back and should be able to average 80-85+. The other thing is that Adelaide has a tough opening few rounds so Thompson should drop in value

I already have Ablett, so:

Bartel + Hill (on the field) + Suban (bench) + 60K

or

Swan + Grimes (on the field) + Hill (bench) + 5K

???????????????????????????????????????????????

It is an extremely tough one which could make or break my team.

T. Tuck or Hasleby?

Both a gamble, considering Tuck has only played 14 games and isn't guaranteed to be in the Hawks' best 22, whilst Hasleby is coming off a knee injury but is an instant required player in Freo's 22.

I started with Hasleby, but am now convinced Tuck is going to be a DT gem this year after keeping my eye on him all of last year.

Boak v Knights v Wells v Sylvia

I've got Knights in at the moment because I think he should go ok with VB out for a while. Boak has showed little the last couple of games but its only preseason. Wells and Sylvia have looked pretty good but again its only preseason......Wells I find very inconsistent.......and Sylvia.....well he plays for Melbourne, enough said :p

For me no contest Swan + Grimes..
Much better backup, swan will have a good year.
Whats 10-20ppg better with Bartel when you risking a 0 week in week out in your backline

For midfield id be looking at Boak.

I agree, Hasleby is however engrained in the 22 and should play all 22 if he stays fit and average 70-85ppg IMO. Which is good.

Tuck I see with a much better potential but comes with the risk of having a bad game or two and getting dropped. I see his average as high as 95ppg should he have a ripper year. But id expect an 85avg.

You have a good understanding of each, so id stick with your gut.

Easily the Swan + Grimes.. even if you didnt have Ablett.

Ok,

Stokes + McIntosh

or

Brennan + Fraiser

?
