Jordan Lewis vs. Colin Sylvia

Anyone have any tips as to how Lewis is doing after his shoulder surgery?
I feel more confident in lewis coz he's produced a 90+ season in 2007, but should i take the risk, as it is a shoulder?

Sylvia on the otherhand seems to have reached his plateau, can he produce this season in a melbourne team that doesnt seem to have changed that much? though he is looking to have an uncomplicated pre-season.

with a backline of

Goddard Lockyer Johncock Adcock Malceski Houlihan and Raines

and a forward line of

Deledio Didak Johnson Brennan Higgins Skipworth Ziebell Bench: Sidebottom Nahas

would trading sidebottom for a player like walker or gumbleton and then upgrading johncock to gram be worth it?

coughlan v haslebly
i rekon you should only have one in your team, but which?

Depends where both are played in NAB. Both are tempting, but imo will average roughly the same, therefore making me inclined to pick Coughlan, just. Does look a bit tight for spots @ Richmond.

What are peoples thoughts on either Didak and Harvey as a forward, i'm torn between both. Both are quite similarly built players and can produce decent 90-100 scores consistently, which is the key to me selecting either player. I'd say Harvey because he has the runs on the board, but Didak's performance in the first round of the NAB has cast doubts.

Riewoldt vs Nathan G Brown

I would go Riewoldt anyday, he always seems to start off a bit slow but by the end of the year will be the right pick.

Davey vs Lucas vs Higgins vs Veszpremi vs Skipworth
All look to be cheap and all look like they will be getting games. But which ones to take and how many?

Make no mistakes, Dids is an out and out star and I would not be worried about the NAB cup in terms of his performance. Personally by the end of the year I think you would want both in your team, but I'd start with Didak.

I would start with Brent Harvey :) Look at his past years 6 years for games played 21,21,22,22,24,22. Didak 22,18,12,22,15,18. Brent has played 21 games in all of the past 6 years where Didak has twice in past 6. Brent has averaged over 90 the past 3 years, Didak averaged over 90 only last year.

It all stacks up to Harvey for me, more proven scorer and more durable slightly cheaper. And that is what you want from someone you are outlaying 400k for. Proven durable scorer.

Lakey provided some pretty great research re: Harvey and his first 10 rounds of the season compared to his last 12 which is why I'd lean towards Didak.

Here's one I've been pondering and can't decide on..

McGlynn v Staker as a forward.

McGlynn - Can obviously score well, and prior to last year played 21(?) games and has maintained his decent average over three years. With Crawford out and a number of Hawks players coming on slowly in the pre-season could seize his opportunity at the start of the year and grab some extra TOG/points.

Staker - Every year there is talks he wants to move into the midfield and on the weekend against Collingwood he did. TBH I only watched the first half and he seemed to be about the play but didn't look totally impressive. The Eagles team is definately light on and I think if he made the permanant move he could definately improve his average.

What does everyone think? Especially interested in WCE/Hawks supporters.

Harvey certainly powers on home as the premiums seem to do. But Didak hardley set the world on fire from the start. 1 DT ton in first 4 games. And a 74 and 88. Meh

Indeed. Same for riewoldt really, and enright. All consistent in their slow starts over last 2-4 years, and when their bottoms have been (say rounds 9-12).

Gia vs Didak.

Do people see them continuing on from last year? Gia has been the more consistent over his career, but they both play a similar game-style. Is this one down to personal preference?

here's one, coughlan and skipworth or hasleby and hentschell?

Hentschell is a player that you would hope gets 50-60 at best (anything more would be a bonus) and watch his price rise to his peak then sell, he will not be a keeper,
coughlan will be looking at less game time with richmonds midfield and the effects of 2 years injured will have its toll, plus had only had one year of full footy (2 if you count 2003 he missed one game) so he is REALLY injurey prone and is a risk, but at that price i would pick him up or some one like zeibell or rich
Hasleby is at a good price and will prob ave 70- 75 but if he can some how get fully fit he could prob ave 80-90 but i dont think he will be a keeper
Dont know much about skipworth but i think he will play most games my advice just watch closely at him in the NAB cup

Scotland, Kerr, Morton

or

Lockyer, Van Berlo/Gibbs, Masten

??

Tough one for mine.

Montagna vs Priddis?

Priddis still average 89 last year despite often being the number 1 midfielder with Kerr out. With the eagle younger midfielders getting another year of experience, you may think they can support him and Kerr a little better. Possibly boosting his scores.

One thing these players do have in common are they can score very heavily but are also prone to the odd sub 70 game.
