Don't think he will retire. As he mentioned both him and the club are keen for him to play on, so expecting a 1 year deal in the near future.

"The Whisper" Column in the Herald Sun today mentions a prominent member of our backline currently holding the fort due to the injury crisis isn't feeling the love off the field. This being due to a considerable distance between his asking price and the club's contract offer. Only guessing Tom Langdon perhaps.
After his game yesterday and through the finals, you'd hope the club would recognise his worth.

Cap squeeze is well and truly on you'd think, especially as we come to the fat end of Mayne and Wells contracts.

Some talk we may have to sacrifice Goldy to keep Langdon.
Goldy on base wage or just above will be no more expensive than a draftee. Cant see why we shouldnt keep him, hes hardly going to cost a bomb. Good temporary depth while Dunn and Shaz are recuperating and the young Academy/Father son kids are learning.

The decision on Goldy will be a balancing item depending on the outcome of the trade period is but given our lack of talls this year, the more the merrier.

To me if Goldy is happy to earn base wage I’d accept his offer. Good depth at both ends and could help us sure up Langdon and/or May.

The players still waiting on a contract ahead of first list deadline

ADAM Oxley has been told by Collingwood he won’t be offered a new contract.

Oxley was re-drafted as a rookie 12 months ago, but won’t be offered another lifeline after managing only three senior games in the Pies’ 2018 charge to the Grand Final.

The defender, 25, was given the news on Monday.

FIXTURE: AFL’S FRIDAY NIGHT FOCUS FOR 2019 DRAW

CHANGES: EVERY CLUB’S DELISTINGS AND RETIREMENTS

It’s likely Josh Smith will join Oxley on the way out of a Collingwood side suddenly bursting with depth.

Smith made an excellent start to life at AFL level, playing 18 games in 2016 to become a Nathan Buckley favourite, but he steadily fell out of favour as teammates went past him.

At 24, the Queenslander would appear an ideal fit for Gold Coast, but it’s understood there has been little interest shown by the Suns.

The Pies announced seven new signings earlier this month, with Josh Thomas (three years), Tom Langdon (three), Darcy Moore (two), Flynn Appleby (two), Lynden Dunn (one), Jamie Elliott (one) and Tim Broomhead (one) all putting pen to paper.

Brody Mihocek agreed to a new two-year deal this week, while Josh Daicos, Tyson Goldsack and Levi Greenwood are also set to sign on.

But Jarryd Blair is still unsigned and Kayle Kirby is likely to retire due to a heart issue.

There’s better news for Essendon defender Ben McNeice who scored a new deal, with teammates Matt Dea and Mark Baguley now the only Bombers out of contract.

Bulldogs best-and-fairest winner Tom Liberatore and Richmond premiership player Jacob Townsend are others still to put pen to paper.

In other contract news on Tuesday:

HAWTHORN re-signed forward Ryan Schoenmakers, defenders Teia Miles and Ricky Henderson and emerging ruckman Marc Pittonet for another year. Daniel Howe has signed a two-year deal. Will Langford was delisted while rookies James Cousins, David Mirra and Conor Glass were upgraded to the senior list.

FREMANTLE forward Michael Walters has signed a two-year contract extension, committing to the Dockers until the end of 2022.

EXCITING Irish prospects Irishman Red Og Murphy (North Melbourne) and Stefan Okunbor (Geelong) have been signed as Category B rookies.

Four Pies sign on, five depart
October 30, 2018 5:20 PM

Josh Daicos and Tyson Goldsack are among the players to sign new contracts with Collingwood

Related
Collingwood’s list for the 2019 season continues to take shape with a further four players recommitting to the club.

Forwards Josh Daicos and Brody Mihocek have each penned two-year deals while veteran Tyson Goldsack and midfielder Levi Greenwood will also continue their careers in black and white, both signing on for a further season.

The deals follow the recent re-signings of an additional seven Magpies, including Darcy Moore, Jamie Elliott and Tom Langdon.

Meanwhile, Collingwood will farewell premiership forward Jarryd Blair who has not been offered a contract for the 2019 season.

The 28-year-old started his career on the rookie list and found himself playing in the 2010 grand final just 12 weeks after his AFL debut.

He was presented with the Harry Collier Trophy as the club’s best first year player later that year and went on to win the Gavin Brown Desire Award in 2013.

An important player for the Pies initially through the midfield and later in attack, Blair was also a fabric player in the change room and exceptionally consistent. In the prime of his career, he lined up in at least 20 games for six consecutive seasons.

Blair managed 157 games over his nine years at the Holden Centre and featured in four finals campaigns, including three grand finals.

Teammates Adam Oxley, Josh Smith and Sam McLarty have also been informed that their contracts will not be extended.

Oxley, a rookie selection like Blair, played three games in 2018 for a career total of 34 matches across six seasons.

Fellow Queenslander, Smith, played 32 matches over three seasons in black and white, while McLarty was unable to make a senior team appearance in his two years on the Collingwood list.

Joining the departing Magpies is Kayle Kirby who has retired from AFL football. Kirby collapsed earlier this year in a pre-season VFL match due to a heart issue that he continues to manage. A mercurial talent, Kirby played one senior match in two seasons with the club.

Sam Murray, who is currently the subject of an ASADA investigation and serving a provisional suspension, will be delisted and redrafted as a rookie. As previously advised, Tim Broomhead will also be delisted with the promise of being with the club in 2019 as a rookie.

Collingwood acknowledges that Broomhead and Murray must be available to Collingwood in the rookie draft for these undertakings to be honoured.

Collingwood list manager Ned Guy thanked all five departing players for their contributions to the club.

“Each of these players has been important to our success this year in different ways, on and off the field,” Guy said.

“It’s never easy to say goodbye and we’re going to miss having these boys at the club. Jarryd, for example, has been a popular figure in the dressing room and around the club for almost a decade.

“We’d like to wish each of them the very best as they start the next chapter of their lives.”

What do you think the following implies, that they nominate?

Collingwood acknowledges that Broomhead and Murray must be available to Collingwood in the rookie draft for these undertakings to be honoured.
I think it just acknowledges the fact that once they are de-listed they go into the open draft and could be taken by another club before we can honour the undertaking. I don't read anything more into it than that.
