Prediction Player jumper numbers

I was just going off Beams’ insta post.
Sorry i wasn’t in anyway doubting you but it was more the yeh nah for 11.

Our club hasn’t been swapping current players numbers much in recent times (35 excepted) so your pick of 11 really makes sense based on how we do our numbers. Stephenson is pretty much a lock on 1. So 11 is next truly available for Dayne.

Kelly now official Will he gain 23?

Does Atu Bosenavulagi now gain number 40?

Or even 11?

That’s my prediction with full known listed players now completed.

I’m now going with our recent practice of players not swapping numbers around (except 35) and this might be it.

To be still determined is which Irish lad becomes Rookie A lust which B List?

Plus will we offer Cat B to Wraith?

Looks pretty likely. Whether Kelly wants 23 is the only outlier. We could see Kelly in 27 and Roughead in 23 if he doesn't (or if Roughead is fixed on retaining 23).

Very good point.
After the Brown boys and young Daicos went the road of differing numbers....
Though Darcy kept the 30 he has intimated that 30 was “his” number long term anyway.

I don’t mind the sons having dad’s number. It’s nostalgic and kind of nice without (generally) being a burden.

Of course neither may want 23, which would open the door for C3PO or whatever nickname this board is running with for Bosenavulagi.

R2-D2. Completely different. Get it right.

Saintly, what are you doing, man?! You should be all over this!

http://www.afl.com.au/news/2018-11-24/magpies-fatherson-pick-forgoes-dads-number

COLLINGWOOD father-son recruit Will Kelly wants to forge his own footballing path, electing not to wear the No.23 jumper his dad donned for the Magpies.

But Kelly decided against taking on the number Craig wore for 122 games and will instead don No.27.

As expected, the Pies' first pick – Isaac Quaynor, No.13 overall – will wear No.35, which is the jumper they have allocated to their first draft selection every year since the end of 2010.

The third and final pick in the draft, Atu Bosenavulagi, will don No.40, recently worn by new Eagle Josh Smith.

More to come

The article now says Kelly will wear 27.

Appreciate your info.
Good to know.

Ok, that means there has to be a juggle in my numbers.

The simplest way forward assuming Beams takes 11 is Roughead takes 23.
Kelly takes 27.

But what about this bit of possibility?

Mayne always loves 23 so he could jump to 23, Stephenson to 16 his much loved number with Kelly in 1.

But no, Stephenson is happy and likes 1.

So I’ll amend to the simple Roughead Kelly swap.

Edit: declared Kelly in 27, R2D2C3PO in 40.

Looking at the above, I think we’ve pretty much locked in well and correctly.
No surprises when the numbers are officially released is the only draw back.

Exciting to see the new numbers.

NB: even though we have it worked out, pretty much, nonetheless I bet we’re the last club to reveal it officially.

Since the article does say "More to come" at the end, with a bit of luck they'll update it shortly and let us know what's happening with Beams, Roughead, Stephenson and any other changes as well.

Stephenson seems a "natural" to wear the number 1. Roughead has worn 23 through his Bulldogs days and may well want to keep wearing it. Beams probably will be left with 11, unless there's a surprise swap or two going on.

The word from Scottie’s is Stephenson is in one.
Also we just don’t seem to do the number swap past few years.

Yeah, I've seen that post so I expect that to happen as well. Call me old fashioned but I actually think the captain should be wearing number 1, but that tradition seems all but dead and buried!

There might still be some players who would shy away from wearing that number, but Stephenson doesn't seem to be the nervous type. Just like Fasolo before him, he doesn't appear to lack self-confidence!
