Shiel is the player with explosive pace in the midfield stoppages that we need. I’d give up a lot to get him, because he would force opposition midfielders to sag off and give Rockliff time to generate a clearance instead of the hack shit we do at the moment.

If we turned Polec into Shiel it would be pants down lap around the table time.

I’d be happy to go for Shiel as long as there is a way we can keep one at least one first rounder for this year.
Yep.

If we used one first rounder this year (from Polec trade) and next year’s first rounder for Shiel, with something coming back the other way, say GWS second rounder next year, that would be a good and fair result.

We then pick up Lycett as a free agent.

We are left with pick 10 or so, pick 24 or so (Saints second rounder), pick 31 (our second rounder) and a couple of third round picks around 45-50.

We lose Polec and our first rounder next year and gain a second round pick next year.

Draft priorities then become:
Best available high possession, hard running, clean midfielder with our first pick
Best available tall forward with our second pick
Creative, quick small-medium forward or wingman with our third pick
Ready-made tall defender (eg current state level player with our fourth pick)
Another creative small-medium outside mid-forward

This is the year to get ruthless with Pittard and Hombsch. See if they are worth anything on the trade table between picks 25 and 35 or exchange for a forward.

Pittard for a player who could become a Tim Membrey or Jason Cripps type would be fantastic.

Two for Polly with a pick going to NM. Two firsts next year for Sheil.

Leaves us with two in this years draft.
Would be great but don’t think we could get two for Polec. Only way I could see that happening is if we trade Polec and our second for there first firsts this year and next year.

They would probably want two top ten picks or a 2-5 pick for him.

nnnaaaah, once we get him - we'll play him in defence or the ruck:D

Half back pocket or forward pocket as defensive forward.

It might be time to consider putting some of our veterans on the trade table (Boak, Ebert, Hoff, Gray etc) if it means we can gain an advantage in regenerating our list.

When someone said we had a million dollars in the cap to go after an experienced player.

We can match any price and have the picks to do a deal.

There's no such thing as "We can't get"
So what you are saying is we can truly get a get brother?

Heard a reasonable whisper today that you are going hard at Sheil.

No way we should give up 2 x first round picks!

especially when they are pushing him out the door because of their salary cap and what they'll get when he's a free agent next year.
Exactly. All these people in here say crap like this, then complain when we have no draft picks.
