Did the people calling to trade Wingard for underperforming stop watching footy just before Round 11 or something? Since moving into the middle he's going at around 25 touches and a goal a game. 100+ SuperCoach average over that time as well for what that's worth. Spud delist.
Yeah, this was me reading a few of the posts.

Is Chad being disinterested something that is beyond speculation or is it speculation echoed into ‘fact’ through repetition here?

Just for clarity, I don’t mean the idea that he does not live and breathe football but that his alleged disinterest is something that would see him play elsewhere.
Persistent murmurings so there's probably something to it. Chad hasn't looked very happy this year. Given we've just had a season with the most dour gameplan on record, it's understandable that Chad would be frustrated. It's the anti-thesis of his genetic makeup. If Chad was playing for Collingwood, Hawthorn or Geelong, he'd be smashing it every week.

This would be a whole lot simpler if it was:

a) they want to trade pick 2 (they want Lukosius)
b) they want to trade pick 1 (they're passing on Lukosius)
There is live trading this year... this scenario could happen... maybe not for us

Yeah Ken&Co better watch it. Seeing Impey go OK at Hawks is bad enough, if Chad ends up somewhere and blitzes it I think i'll chuck following this club in. Monumental cock-up.

Exactly. If carlton theoretically had pick 1 and 2 and picked walsh at 1, a team coming in to trade for pick 2 would basically trading in to get lukosius.

Perhaps his current output is stunted by the fact we moved him out of the position where he became a 2x AA, and to a part of the ground that's unnatural to him. The guy is one of those rare, naturally talented freaks, perhaps we should just let him do his thing in the forward line.

And since when is David f**king King a reliable source for any sort of review? He's the guy who said Gold Coast should trade a pick in the 2017 draft for Ken Hinkley
Exactly, just give him free reign to roam around home and take punts from anywhere inside 50

I mean would you pull Buddy Franklin from his forward position to become another stock standard mid? (Granted there’s a size difference but you get the point)

Wingard needs to quit with the up and under 9 irons in to the fwd line. One of those ended Charlie's season.
Just following team rules. Why would you hit up a leading forward when you can kick it high to a contest lol. It's the Lade way and I hope like hell it gets shown the door with him.

Wingard is actually beneath AFL standard as a forward with the way the game is played today.

What made him a good forward was his skill and craft that could turn half an opportunity into a goal, but the game style these days doesn't allow him the space to showcase those talents. He's not strong enough to compete against good defenders in the air or on the ground and his defensive pressure is ordinary. So he's practically useless as a forward except on the quick break, but he's no better than Neade or Johnson in that regard.

The fact that he played any minutes at all as a forward this year is an indictment on the collective football intellect of our coaching panel.

Doesn't smile enough when he's out there. Trade him for a 4th rounder or delist if nobody's interested.

In my view no one should be untouchable on our list. We have shown consistently now that we are nowhere near it.

Wingard? if the deal is right... see ya mate. Same applies to anyone.

We can no longer fantasise about what these players may be. They simply have not delivered.
Chad Delivered in 13 and 14. Initially I thought the same as you, however I suspect our system is making players not deliver. It's clear, Wines and Polec have gone backwards, it's almost like the longer players stay in our system the worse they get, outside Robbie Gray and an improving ever green Westhoff.

Lets hope Chad has a proper pre season for a change then I think the real Chad Wingard will stand up .
I don't see any of the players I'd like to trade would attract much interest , I think Polly is enough .
As far as trading in goes , sure Lycett and Shiel or similar but that'd be about it .i think the draft is where we go for about 4 or 5 new players

Disagree that Chad is useless as a forward, I think in a better system his ideal position is forward as he has the nous and goal sense to be most damaging in the front half. It's more a fact that our midfield is in general a bunch of poorly skilled, slow players that we need to throw him in there to provide some class and speed.

I have never been so mad at what these coaches have done to the talent on this list. These bas#@rds are literally destroying players careers. There is no development and nothing that is emerging to give anyone associated with this club any hope at all. Hang your heads in shame.

What do people make of the following;

Comparing Disposal efficiency 2014 to 2018

2014 2018

Travis Boak 70.7 64.97
Ollie Wines 65.72 68.5
Brad Ebert 68.74 69.7
Jared Polec. 71.84 69.41
Chad Wingard 58.99 62.7

Not pretty reading. Would have no problem trading any of the above for the right price, Chad included.

I still want Aaron Hall. Will come cheap and I believe is a great player, when fit. I back our fitness staff to fix him up.

Would slot nicely onto a wing. We really miss that outside player that most teams have who gets 30+ regularly.
