Lycett is a must in the trade period IMO if he want's to come home back to Port Adelaide, we need a decent 2nd ruck who can play forward as a KPF.

We've seen how we play with Ryder out, and it's not pretty.

Could trade Pittard off to a Vic club and use that pick for Lycett. Couple of 2nd rounders should be enough to get it done.
Lycett is pretty well set up over here in WA. Long term girlfriend is from WA and he has a couple of houses. Last time he was out of contract he said he didn't even think of playing elsewhere. IMO he's staying at West Coast long term.

I really want us to target Francis. Essendon should be looking to offload him this year and i’d Pretty happily give our second rounder for him with maybe a swap of our third rounders to sweeten it. High risk but the reward is higher

We already have 5 picks inside the first 50-odd so I’d be happy to take a punt on him with the later 2nd rounder or 3rd rounder.

Can we draft Lebron James as a DFA?
Goes all right from what I hear.
Nothing stopping us under the rules. :) Now if Mr Gui and his mates can fund the $US30m playing contract and $US50m+ endorsements we should be right.

Imagine how upset Damian Barrett would be about our salary cap situation then.

:D Frothing at the mouth as he makes his report.

not worth a 2nd at this point in time. 3rd rounder is fair. That being said, they will ask for a top 10 pick knowing essendon.

We are probably better off going after Ben Simmons before he wastes his career earning 10 million a year playing NBA. Plus endorsements.

Lol we’re talking about the NBA, even mediocre players can make 10 mil a year. Ben Simmons at the peak of his powers will be earning the equivalent of about 3 AFL salary caps.

Our second rounder?
No way.

I can see both Pittard and Atley being put on the trade table, but in what is supposed to be a very strong draft I can't see them getting us into the top 10, even as a package deal.

Individually Pittard is probably worth a mid to late 2nd rounder, and Atley a middish 3rd rounder at best.
What we gave for Atley has zero to do with what another club would be prepared to give as a trade at the end of this season, and Pittard's 3 year contract could scare off some potential suitors.

If Jasper can regain form and get back into the Power line up, that would obviously improve his value, but that could also mean the club ( Kern  ) would then prefer to keep him.

What's your justification for valuing Atley so low?

I based it on his inability to get a regular AFL gig, plus what I have seen from him in his games for the Maggies at Alberton.
That could all change of course if he has a very strong finish to the season, but I can't see him breaking into the Power midfield and if he can't I believe that would have to effect his trade value.

If people have the expectation that a 2nd year midfielder has to play consistently in the afl and averaging well over 20 touches in the sanfl as a 19 yr old is poor then those people are going to be disappointed for eternity

Take out top 10 picks and I’ll bet 9/10 top 50 players in the league right now didn’t play more than 3 games in their first year and a half.

And I’ll bet that 9/10 of those 9/10 players would have their trade value lowered as a result.

If Atley as an uncontracted second round pick struggling for game time wants out, we’ll get **** all for him. Argue that it’s unfair all you like, but it’s just the nature of the business.

There is no sign he wants out it’s simply speculation because he is Victorian and not playing week in week out. I wasn’t talking about trade value I’m talking about writing someone off because they aren’t dominant at 19.

Atley appears to be a victim of being pretty good in his first year and people must have been expecting him to become josh Carr in his 2nd year or something.

For what it’s worth he would have to be our highest possession getter outside our 22 currently. Moore young and ah Chee werent getting more than 8-15 touches a game at the same age.

If his form at SANFL level is currently poor, then fair enough.

Not being able to crack the Port AFL side which boasts Wines, SPP and Rockliff wouldn't impact his trade value imo. In fact, when players are held out of best 22s of top teams, it can increase their trade value. If we manage to finish top 4 this year, I would expect Atley's trade value to be better than mid-3rd round, assuming his SANFL form is up to scratch.

That said, if North offer anything less than a second rounder, he can walk to them in the draft if he lasts to their 3rd pick. It may have worked for Jacobs but I doubt they'll be able to pull it off again.

In these situations, it's always best to try and find a player in a similar situation at another club, then think of what you'd be happy for Port to offer to get them. Shockingly ( ), it nearly always turns out to be quite a bit less than what most of our supporters think is fair value for our players.

People on here don’t want to give up a second rounder for a bloke who was pick 5 a few years ago in Aaron Francis but refuse to accept any less than a second rounder for a bloke taken at pick 32.
