Credit to Mayne for coming back and playing decent football. No doubt he would have been disappointed at what occurred last year with what was said about him by fans and the club, but he has acted very professionally and played good footy this year.

Definitely still a poor list management decision, and would only truly be classified as a success if Collingwood wins a flag with him in the 22.
still an awful contract that will cost us Jordan DeGoey

We literally just announced JDG has re-signed like an hour ago...
You two worry meJDG resigned today, and by the time this new contract ends the Mayne contract will have finished.
Not sure what you are on about.
You two worry me
Will he get a contract extension now?

This. The thing is every club has someone on their list who is receiving around 100-150k per year more than they should really be getting based on outside perceptions.
Mayne is now slightly overpaid as a best 22 role player, rather than massively overpaid as a VFL level guy.
Testament to his character and work ethic, and well done to Collingwood on backing him in to have a proper opportunity at a role change.
Happy to see him doing well tbh.

Pay his salary? What a pack of campaignersWas definitely an out of character comment from Buckley. He rarely, if ever, puts a foot wrong in the media, and this was a rare mistake from him.
Credit must go to Mayne, for turning his career around. Couldn't be happier for him, after the way he was treated by fans last year, who according to some posters "are allowed to boo Chris Mayne because they pay his salary".
Reflecting on this thread. Wow absolutely awful coaching.
Just goes to show success all comes from the list itself and the coach is irrelevant.

I have nothing against Chris Mayne and hope he can turn it around. But that damn fine performance was, as you said, in the VFL. Of course he was getting jeered, because it's the members money that is paying his salary. Who else is at fault for not being to cut the mustard and make it into one of the worst forward lines in the comp? (Don't be silly and blame Buckley)
Did I say anything wrong? Where does the member’s money go?I have so much respect for what Mayne has dealt with, and then over come in the past twelve months.
Do you honestly believe that Collingwood supporters should jeer underperforming players because they "pay their wages"?Did I say anything wrong? Where does the member’s money go?
It is only natural that club supporters will jeer underperforming players on large wages. Collingwood isn’t the first club and won’t be the last.Do you honestly believe that Collingwood supporters should jeer underperforming players because they "pay their wages"?
He’s honestly lucky we’ve had so many injuries this year otherwise he wouldn’t be in the side.
