I thought now would be an interesting time to revisit this thread. I said previously in this thread that I thought the Lions should draft more Queenslanders and it certainly looks like that's what they're doing.

So the obvious difference is the increase in Tasmanians and Queenslanders. The no go-home factor with players from those two states make the statistic easy to understand. Nearly a quarter of the list hails from Queensland which I think is a strong contingent of locals and should help build the culture at the club. We also know a few more Queenslanders are heading the Lions' way in this off season so that number could be creeping up around 30% in the near future. As long as the academy continues to produce talent, the Lions should drafted as many Queenslanders as possible IMO. The benefits won't be seen for at least five years from now but I'm sure a lot of people understand what I'm getting at.
