Dylan Grimes. Tall Defender. Is 192cm tall. Can play on both tall and small.

Jake Stringer. Tall Forward. Is 192cm tall. Did play as a Tall Forward throughout the season last year. Expect him to play that role again this season alongside Danniher.

Adam Tomlinson. Tall Defender. 193cm tall. Played everywhere last season from forward to midfield and as a key defender. Expect the same again this year.

I dont have the time to research all the ins and outs of the above right now but i anticipated them playing these roles this year.

Gold Coast Devils apply for the following Key Defender positions:

1. Jeremy Howe
2. Tom Doedee

Howe played a large chunk of the season on opposition key forwards (see link)
*hover over icon in "News" column for confirmation of the following match ups v opposition key forwards...
Rd 2 v GWS - Cameron
Rd 3 v Carloton - C.Curnow
Rd 4 v Adelaide - Walker
Rd 5 v Essendon - Stewart
Rd 7 v Brisbane - McStay
Rd 10 v WBD - Schache
Rd 17 v WCE - Lycett
Rd 18 v North Melb - Brown
Rd 19 v Richmond - Riewoldt
QF v WCE - Vardy
SF v GWS - Himmelberg
GF v WCE - Darling
The only other match ups listed were Martin and Hannan. All others just listed him as "in defence" so the role was unspecified.

Doedee played mostly as an intercept marking defender, similar to Aaron Francis (who is kpd) but manned the resting ruckmen against Carlton in Rd 7 and then finished the season with the following match ups against key forwards...
Rd 18 v risbane - McStay
Rd 20 v Port - Watts at CHB
Rd 21 v GWS - Himmelberg
Rd 22 v North Melb - Waite
(see link)

Adelaide Lions apply for:

Lachlan Plowman to be classified as a permmanent Key Defender - Took on some of the most prolific key forwards in his time at Carlton.

Lachlan Plowman - KPD: Approved. Only played as a KPD roughly 20% of time last year but has a history of playing at AFL level as a KPD and 20% isn't nothing.

Dylan Grimes - KPD: Approved. Plays both tall and small depending on matchups.

Jake Stringer - KPF: Denied. This may be one to try later in the year if there is a bit more evidence in the 2019 season. Actually played more time in the midfield than he ever has (30%) and with Daniher returning he's role as a KPF is even lower. A classic hardship exception case for a KPF at this point but with more evidence in 2019 could become permanent.

Adam Tomlinson - KPD: Approved. A bit borderline as he played majority of his time in 2018 as a winger but he has a strong history of playing KPD in recent seasons.

Gold Coast Devils apply for the following Key Defender positions:

1. Jeremy Howe
2. Tom Doedee

Jeremy Howe - KPD: Denied. Even with injuries decimating Collingwood's backline in 2018 Howe mostly played as a loose defender and at 190cm it's a stretch to classify him as key position. Similar to Stringer, an easy hardship approval but more evidence in 2019 season would strengthen his permanent KPD case.

Tom Doedee - KPD: Approved. Again a little borderline and perhaps a little short for KPP but has basically played the Jake Lever role for Adelaide.

Rory Lobb. Key Forward. With Sandi going around again i expect Lobb to play a mixture of KF and in the ruck. Applying to have him listed as both Ruck,Key forward for the upcoming season.

Rory Lobb - KPF: Approved. Has played recent seasons as a permanent KPF, played partly as a KPF last year and will resume role as permanent KPF this season.

Melbourne apply for:

Scott Jones - Ruck - He is a ruckman.

Justin Westhoff - Ruck - Played as Port second ruck last year and averaged almost 10 hitouts a game.

Jordan Ridley - Back - Small sample size but in two of his three games he matched up on C. Moore and H. Himmelberg who both have key forward status.

Mitch W. Brown - Back - Played full games as a key back for Essendon last year, particularly in the beginning of the year. Decent chance to go back again with Joe Daniher hopefully coming back in the side.

Harbour City Hornets

Apply for
B Crossley - GCS - Ruck - Started his career as an undersized Ruck
H Taylor - GEE - KPF - Plays the swingman role, has won and lost games, kicking and missing goals

Scott Jones - Ruck: Approved. Not much to say, he's played ruck mostly and that's his main position. Only plays as a KPF occasionally due to Sandilands and Darcy being in the same team.

Justin Westhoff - Ruck: Denied. Played as a ruck mostly due to injuries in 2018. Need to see him do it again this year which I consider doubtful at this stage with Ryder and Lycett in the same team. Definitely a hardship candidate. Just as likely to gain KPD as he is Ruck status at this point.

Jordan Ridley - KPD: Denied. Not enough evidence at AFL level just yet but in what time he has played there was a lot of time in the sweeper role. Could change early in the season with a bit more evidence.

Mitch Brown - KPD: Approved. Probably likely to spend the majority of his time in attack in 2018 but just 2 years ago was a genuine KPD. I'm happy enough to have him in this role for now but will likely change for next year if he remains in the same role as 2018.

Apply for
B Crossley - GCS - Ruck - Started his career as an undersized Ruck
H Taylor - GEE - KPF - Plays the swingman role, has won and lost games, kicking and missing goals

Brayden Crossley - Ruck: Approved. Averaged 20 hitouts per game as a ruck in the NEAFL.

Harry Taylor - KPF: Approved. Spent some time last season as a genuine KPF.

I think the only one I want to fix is De Goey, full time KPF. He plays as Collingwoods number one forward
Jordan De Goey - KPF: Denied. Tricky one this one. Definitely a hardship candidate. Was certainly the number 1 forward at Collingwood when playing there last year but that doesn't automatically make him a KPF, particularly with all the injuries Collingwood had in 2018. Mason Cox is definitely a KPF and so is Mihocek; Elliot will also be coming back into the side and will also be a target up forward. Want to see his role early this year before granting any permanent KPF status as there is a big chance De Goey resumes his midfielder/forward role similar to the likes of Dustin Martin.

Bit of a long shot here but Wagga apply for Robbie Grey and Josh Caddy to be KPF. Gray spends much of his time as the deepest forward one out in the 50.

Caddy pretty much plays as a CHF. Maybe doesn't fit the height requirement but his role does.]]

And Finlayson as a Stopper as he played a bit of CHB last season and is 196cm.

Robbie Gray - KPF: Denied. Played forward but not really as a KPF. Also could spend more time in the middle this season with plenty of changes at Port Adelaide.

Josh Caddy - KPF: Denied. Played some KPF last year but not enough to automatically classify him as KPF. Lynch added to Richmond also sees the chances of him performing a key position role diminishing in 2019.

Jeremy Finlayson: KPD - Approved. Split his time between KPD and a rebounding role. Happy enough to grant KPP status.

I'd like to apply for Patrick Ryder to be given KPF status as the club has made it pretty clear he will be spending a lot of time forward now that Lycett has joined.

Patrick Ryder - KPF: Denied. I agree with everything you've said, but similar to a few other players I want to see it happen in the first couple of AFL rounds first before granting permanent status. There's still every chance that Ryder plays mainly as a ruck.

StKilda apply for Jake Stringer as a hardship Key Forward.

Dixon, Boyd, Nic Nat injured. Took lobbe in PSD hoping he would play and Lobb go forward but hes listed as emergency

Approved as hardship KPF for this week but if two of your permanent KPFs are selected to play AFL (including as emergency) then they must be named in your team first as KPF before Stringer.

Wagga apply for David Mirra to be a KPD either long term or short term. He played at CHB on Tom Lynch (so playing as a tall defender) but I understand as he has only played one game.

If not long term I'd like him as a hardship KPD due to not having any other playing talls on my list due to injury.

With injuries to the likes of Morris and Marchbank I approve a hardship exception for Mirra as a KPD. This means he can be selected as a KPD only if no permanent KPD's are available for selection.

Going to apply for Stringer as hardship again as a KPF. Still no respite coming my way. He did play forward a lot and expected still with Danniher out.

Yup all good for hardship again

West Adelaide apply for hardship for Mason Cox as a long term ruckman. As it stands, I only have 2 other young developing ruckman at this point in time that are on my senior list.

Approved as a hardship Ruck. Can only play ruck if no permanent rucks on your list play AFL.

Apply for Rowan Marshall to be given ruck status, was main ruckman for St Kilda on the weekend as well as being 201cm and listed as a ruckman/forward on St Kilda's website.
