No, the AFL Prospectus is used at the start of the year as it classifies between key and non key. Applications are made during the year to add KPP status.

So, he's a ruck but only listed as a small forward?

Are there any other dual position ruck/forwards that aren't kpp?

I'm comfortable for the KPF status to be added if other coaches feels strongly that it should be, however he was never listed as a forward in the Prospectus, only in AFL Fantasy who designated him that at the beginning of the season. This year he has been playing pretty much 90% ruck including at the only time KPF status has been applied for him. Based on last year, he is a Ruck/KPF combo which is why he had that designation in AFL Fantasy, but his role has different this season. Heat map is pretty typical for a ruck:

He's listed as a Ruck/Fwd in SC. Don't they get all their positioning from prospectus? Or is it AFL Fantasy, who also has him as Ruck/Fwd? Who got it wrong?

I know he's played primarily as a ruckman this season. But I'm sure last season was different. When I traded him in I was under the impression I was trading in a key forward who occasionally played in the ruck.
Do you have heat maps for him last season? I'd be interested in seeing that.

Unfortunately I don't have heatmaps for previous years. But yes, AFL Fantasy and SC base their positions on Champion Data/Prospectus which means to get KPF status in that game at the beginning of the season McInerney played at least 30% game time as a forward in 2019. The AFL Prospectus itself (which is what the KPP status is based on in this game at the start of each season) doesn't provide dual position, hence why McInerney was only listed as a ruck in this game.

It's an interesting point though and one I might raise as a potential rule change for next season: AFL Prospectus listed KPP players that have Dual Position Status in AFL Fantasy at the beginning of the year automatically receive KPP status in both of those positions (excluding midfielder) at the beginning of the season instead of relying on a nomination.

In my spreadsheet from last offseason I have him down as a key forward only. I think that's what he was classified as last season.

When he got dual ruck/forward this season I thought it was a nice bonus. When Patton went down injured I just named him full forward, thinking he was automatically key forward. I was shocked when you told me he wasn't and swapped him out for someone else when you did the scores.
I was even more surprised when I applied for hardship kpp and had it turned down. He's listed in both SC anf AFL Fantasy as a forward.

I back the change you're looking at 100% especially considering I already thought it was a rule :D

McKenzie has played and was named in 18 so will have to stay there. You'll have to move someone else out of the team to get McKay in.
