One thing that annoys me about the Bulldogs website is the lack of information we sometimes get and how often the info that is supplied is incorrect or out of date. Websites are one of the best forms of communications these days and reaches a very wide potential audience as you all know.

One of the great attractions of following a footy club is catching up on the latest info on players. Whether it be statistical or just general info we can't seem to get enough of it. Finding out information on new recruits and draftees especially can sometimes be very difficult. But our club seems to make it impossible.

Check out the player profile on premier club Brisbane's site on their 1st draft pick Jared Brennan;

http://lions.com.au/default.asp?pg=players&spg=playerprofile&personid=125259

now compare that with the profile on Tim Walsh on our site;

http://westernbulldogs.com.au/default.asp?pg=players&spg=playerprofile&personid=125273

The comparisons are the same for all the other draft picks. The Lions provide plenty of useful and insightful information while ours gives practically nothing. Also the Lions recruits are already photographed in their club jumpers, ours are not. We have already begun playing footy this year yet we still have profiles of Bartlett, Rusca et al on the site.

This sort of thing makes an impression on people and my impression on the Lions are they are incredibly professional in just about everything. Surely we should be trying to follow suit.

I don't like to bag the club normally but I think this is a pretty poor effort as it surely wouldn't take too much to get some half decent info and some pics cobbled together. I reckon it would take less than 1/2 a day for someone to write up some interesting profiles and get an old box browny out for the snaps.

Someone said on here recently the club should at least be getting the simple things right. They were right.

i really don't think the club does enough for members and potential members.

the site is unproffesional, and it realy seems that they don't care about maintaining the interest of supporters by adding new information.

Most of the new guys aren't even in there.

I'm getting so sick of this club!

They don't do a whole heap of work for the supporters.

No family day, crap website, training info is never right, they aren't involved with the schools and don't actively involve many supporters with the club, so you don't actually really feel part of it.

I checked out Blake Caracella's profile before drafting him in BBFF, it was amazingly long. However, having checked around the club sites a bit when deciding who to pick, i think we are not the worst.

Mick O'Loughlin's talks about how the addition of Daffy and comeback of Plugga will ease the goalkicking pressure on him!!!

Its easy when you have money to hire enough people to look after these things, but our club is run on a minimal staff. It is a vicious circle where not having money makes it harder to attract the members you need to make money to be able to attract the members you need...

Sometimes I think the club has cut costs at any cost.
I would suggest that they wouldn't need to spend too much to get the website information updated on a regular basis and improve the current format

I imagine it means a current employee needs to make more time to keep it updated and we have no idea if this is really feasible. Obviously the website should be a better source of information than it is, but i think as people who obvioulsy use the net a bit, bigfootyites perhaps have an exagerated view in regards to how important it is in the scheme of the whole club.

We've always struggled to have an updated website tho, even when we had a full time guy doing it.

Running a website isn't an easy thing to do, and I think in today's society, a lot of business rely on the internet to get their messages across, but as SigScotty rightly pointed out, it's a horrible circle that at the moment, we can't really stop.

Another stuffed up photo story...ex doggy (and then essendon reserves captain) Josh Mahoney sat in for Gary Moorcroft for the essendon team photo (2002 or 2001), the idea being that they would impose Moorcroft's ugly head on afterwards. Someone forgot to do it and Mahoney made the photo.

I am sure the next post from somebody over 30 will mention the famous Robert Gronewagon photo. :cool:

What would the girtls have made of that?

My son has to make a website as part of his VCE subject. You'd reckon they could get one of the colleges to do it for free?
