Either because they have been denied opportunity or failed in the past, who do you think needs to make a statement in finals 2017 to secure their reputations, or redeem their reputations from damage?

I think E. Betts could secure his reputation just as easily as he could seriously damage it.

Rohan - needs some redemption.

Rohan has had some absolute mares in big games.

Luke Parker has an unfair reputation as a downhill skier in some circles. Is in red-hot form at the moment so would want to keep it up.

And the vast majority of Swans fans reckon Buddy is already worth every penny but a big finals series resulting in a flag would get the rest of the league off his and the club's back.

From a club perspective, Richmond MUST make some noise.

Cotchin and it's not even close. He has captained a team that got steamrolled in the second half by a inferior Carlton team, got blown away within minutes at Adelaide Oval and then went completely missing against North in their last finals loss.
He also won and then lost the coin toss

Yeah I guess I mean validation for the trade itself, not Buddy as a player.
I think the Buddy deal has paid for itself. He was fantastic in the 2014 GF and was the only player for Sydney that could hold his head up afterwards.

Trent Cotchin, without a doubt. Got completely towelled by Jacobs in their last final. I feel like his perceived 'elite status' amongst the AFL general community, took a massive hit after that. Which may or may not be unfair for just one poor, albeit very important game. May have even tarnished his Brownlow a little as people forget how much of a gun he was, during his brownlow year (they only like to remember the more recent elimination final).
Even as a North supporter, he seems like a decent bloke. Hope he can get the chip off his shoulder these finals and play well.
