He carried Hawthorn back into the 2012 GF; was colossal. Just sadly didn't kick straight enough to seal it. Also did an amazing job in the 2014 landslide. I think his main issue is that he was a bit quiet in 2008 and 2013 when he actually was on the winning team.
He's a victim of his own high standards. He kicks bags of 5+ so regularly that you sort of expect he'd kick one or two bags from five starts.

In 08 he was injured and given the job of controlling Scarlett, still got a couple. In his first final in 07 he kicked 7 and starred at AO. Never doubted he was a finals player from that moment on, personally.

Eddie Betts - can he do what many small forwards before him haven't and win a final off his own boot?

Tex Walker - finals performer, but can elevate himself another standing if he has an elite finals series (think JP Kennedy - already rated as a gun in his position but a super finals series made everyone go shit yeah JPK is top 5 in the comp)

Joe Daniher - see Tex. 4 goals in his only final from memory, combined with his youth means his rep isn't in doubt but he can enhance it massively

Trent Cotchin - 1 good, 1 alright and 1 downright awful final personally for him, but 3 losses captained from 3 starts (all embarrassing for different reasons) is the big thing. If he makes it 5 from 5, huge question marks will exist.

Gary Rohan - 'end thread' answer

2008 he was very important because he kept Scarlett out of the play and on the wings where we didn't want him to be. More to it than stats sometimes.

I think the Buddy deal has paid for itself. He was fantastic in the 2014 GF and was the only player for Sydney that could hold his head up afterwards.
Malceski and Goodes could also, those three were the only ones putting in any effort

Does anyone believe Richmond can contend for the flag this year? Not being a smarta$$ or anything like that but personally I feel that they need to just win a final before I can think of them as a real chance to be premiers this year. Win in the first week, get that finals-monkey off the back and I reckon they can challenge.
Have to be in it to win it!

Alex Rance. 3 finals, 3 losses. Will be thankful he won't be up against Jarrad Waite this year. Has no business being compared to Matthew Scarlett who won 3 flags and played in 22 finals.

Tex Walker. Was great in the 2012 finals as and up and comer. Is the captain and spearhead of the #1 team in the comp now. Would love to see him turn in a big finals series.

Patrick Dangerfield. An odd one because it's not really up to him. He has a good record in finals, but his teams with him in don't. Couldn't have done much more last year to help Geelong, but they were lucky to beat Hawthorn in the QF and were outplayed in the PF. Doesn't want to get a reputation as a guy who plays will in teams that always lose.

Dusty/Kelly/anyone else attracting $1m offers. Self-explanatory.

Kurt Tippett. Was an absolute beast for Adelaide in the few finals he played there, but has been mostly disappointing for the Swans. Given the price paid and the fact that he has missed about 40-50 games since he joined they'd hope he can find some form in finals.

Every West Coast player. If we make it we don't deserve to, so ******* lift.

I have faith in Cotchin, his 2017 has been so much better than his last 3 years, I genuinely think he can carry it into September.
Cant make the AA squad.

After finals history and questions on his leadership, he would need to have a statement series.

Rubbish. 2008 QF = 8 goals, 2011 Prelim - nearly dragged us over the line with sheer brilliance, 2012 Prelim - was there at the end when the game was in doubt, 2012 GF - dragged us back into contention, 2014 GF - was superb in a team that got belted in the most complete GF performance in history. Buddy has nothing to prove. (Forgot 2007 Elimination Final - picked this up after reading previous threads).

The entire Swans midfield. Possibly (apart from Kennedy) the most overrated and suspect under pressure midfield unit going. Didn't turn up in 2014 GF, and buckled under the Dogs pressure in 2016.
