I agree with that and I'd forgotten about Greenwood. Before yesterday, playing a midfield with the attributes that you look for had been working beautifully. We've gone with our clever skilful guys. They'd done well in the contest, but significantly when they had won them, they've been able to link up by hand and give us some exciting run from the contest. Yesterday left me concerned about their ability to compete against a really physically strong midfield. We really need Degoey or maybe Sier to come on quickly and give us a better combination of strength, aggression, whilst not losing too much skill or composure. Or Adams to magically discover composure. Wills and Greenwood may give us a better contest, but it will come at an attacking cost.Good question. My crude understanding is the first disposal out of the stoppage area. Admittedly this means that one team can be credited with a clearance even if it's a handball which goes straight to the opposition...which might explain why Brisbane were able to beat Richmond in the clearances a few weeks ago!
I'd welcome a more scientific definition of the term if anyone can find it.
Ideally though, maybe it was just an aberration due to flatness from the short break
