I would like to see what De Goey can do with more time at the centre bounce and less in the forward line. We have been ordinary in there so why not give him a go?
He's spent quite a lot of time in the midfield for a first year player and at centre bounce on the inside, not on a wing. It's pretty similar to Braysahw's situation at Melbourne, a true prototype midfielder that has had to spend more at half forward than he'll ever do at his peak. De Goey's spent a lot of time forward in his draft year, and came with lots of credentials on his high marking and goal kicking ability, hasn't fully showed that at AFL level just yet. So he would definitely benefit from spending even more time in the middle, but with Pendles, Swan, Adams, Greenwood, Broomhead, Crisp, Sidebottom all spending quite a lot of time there it's hard to find space.
Think it's important that we build an elite midfield for the future in 2017+. You'd hope that it would be something like Pendles - De Goey - an elite mid such as Treloar - Crisp - Sidebottom - Broomhead - Freeman/others on rotation.
