Superstar used to do player reviews after each match and they were a really good read. I haven't seen them up so I thought I'd give it a go.

Bare with me though because I haven't watched the match twice and might not do some players justice.

In no particular order:

Everitt- Back to All Australian form of last year. Worked hard, was running out the game, and was really good over the ground, and is surprisingly good at knee level for his height. Tapping wasn't as good as he can be, but was still pretty effective. 7.5/10

Roughead - Pretty solid down back. His opponent kicked a couple, but he looks good when he has the ball, commits hard, and can spoil. At the moment I'm happy for him to be the key defender down back. I think we can build a defence with him as the main KPP. 5.5/10

Lewis - Some good things when given an opportunity. Gave away a free in front of goal. Probably unlucky but should have made an effort to get rid of it or look like he wanted to. Uses it well, looked pretty slow on in the wet, but is going along nicely. Would be a starting midfielder in a lot of teams. 19 touches is pretty good considering the amount of time he gets, and he started every quarter on the bench. 6/10

Ladson - Pretty quiet by his standards. Definately prefers dry conditions, but still used the ball nicely when he had it. Not his best day, but not his worst either. Like how he's come on this season, and think he's an important player as we don't have many outside finishers. 4.5/10

Mitchell - Probably worst game of the year, but still didn't play badly. 20 touches and his spin out of traffic was just brilliant. Thought he would relish the wet conditions but he sets very high standards. 6/10

Williams - The contested mark in the wet around two Bomber defenders, and his set shot were the highlight of the game. Didn't have his kicking boots on today, kicking 3.4, which is most unlike him. Still stood up when he needed to be counted, and conditions weren't ideal for him. 6.5/10

Jaccobs - 15 marks, 22 possesions. I'm a big Jaccobs fan, and think he's come on really well. Rapt after the bagging he copped last year after the S. Rocca game (seem to have a problem with the Rocca brothers) and he's become our best defender IMO. Reads the play as well as anyone, and is so reliable with his kick that we are setting up really well out of defence. 8/10

Crawford - Some thought Clarke, but I reckon Crawford was best on ground. 25 touches, 5 marks, a goal, and a game saving tackle at the end of the game on Watson (I think it was Watson). Stepped up when the other star midfielders were down. Is relishing his new role, and was his best game for the season, making it look like dry conditions at times. 9/10

Bateman - Good without been brilliant. Contributes, breaks lines, contests. Another important cog in our improving midfield. Can play better, but still did some nice things. 6.5/10

Smith - Best game of the year so far. Marked well, timed his spoils to perfection, rebounded like his all australian year, and was basically very very good. 24 touches, and 8 marks. 9/10

Clarke - Very very close second BOG. You can only admire him for the way he's worked on his game. His kicking has improved, and his decision making is quite good now. Suicidal attack on the ball is just inspiring. Was shown little respect and hurt the Bombers because of it, whilst also keeping his opponent quiet. 9/10

Brown - I never thought he'd make a good forward but he's been great since coming back from suspension. The spin out of trouble then snap around the corner was inspiring stuff. He's becoming a quality player who can play either ends of the ground. His sheppard was just plain nasty. I like it. 7/10

Campbell - Struggled. Still got 14 hit-outs, but was jumping too early a lot of the time and offered little around the ground. He's come a long way, and was probably due for an off day. 4/10

Croad - Presented well given the conditions and kicked a nice goal from a tough angle. Fletcher played well on him, but he still kept presenting. Dropped a couple of chest marks but took a nice one as well. 4.5/10

Dawson - Thought if it wasn't for his handball costing a goal he would have had a really really good game. Took some contested marks, used it well, went in hard, and James Brayshaw was loving him on the T.V. Still makes some errors but has done pretty well this year all things considering. Good stuff. 6/10

Dixon - Very very impressed with Dixon's game. Took his opportuntity, used it exceptionally, and kicked some nice goals. His defensive efforts aren't to be ignored either. Only slight issue was he struggles to keep his feet on occassions but that's been picky considering his overall game. 7.5/10

Guerra - Good but not his best game. Again conditions weren't suited to his linking play and setting up, but he's been a great pickup for us this year. Missed a chance to kick a goal. Would have liked to have seen him moved forward earlier given the conditions. 5.5/10

Hodge - Looked like his ankle may have stopped much preperation during the week. Was tackled a lot with the ball, and didn't have the same influence. Still looked poised. Good signs to win with Hodge and Mitchell playing below par games. 5.5/10

Ries - Came in for the wet conditions. Laid off some nice handballs, went in hard. Nothing flashy, nothing really that impressive but he tried. Wish he had better skills because I like his work-rate and vission, but really he wont play this week at Telstra Dome. 3.5/10

Sewell - Did well on Hirdy. Hird is still a gun, so to keep him under control at times was good. Hird slowly got into the game, but Sewell had a huge ask. 5.5/10

Vandenberg - Kicked a good goal, his set shots have improved. I think I recall one bad turnover, but overall wasn't bad. Commitment was there as usual. 6/10

Young - Average, conditions didn't suit him. Still kicked long when he had it so you know he's gonna use it pretty well when he does get it. His intensity is a mile better than last year. He'll be a good player in time. 4/10

Grades are reflective on their position, what is expected of them.

Thanks for that CS :)

Not suprised Mitchell had an off day. That crash into the seats at TD the week before must have hurt and had an affect.

Ries: The 23rd man. Has important role in the club coming in one week to cover IFS (Injury, Form, Suspension) and out the next week. Knows the team plan, practices the drills with the main group but should still play BHH each week until needed.

Nice work; an enjoyable read.

You've been very tough on Mitchell and Williams for mine.

Mitchell 9. Was in and under on an in-and-under day. Got plenty of the ball and worked his way through and out of heavy traffic on a number of occasions to gain 40 or 50 metres and advantage to the player downfield. Tackled really well.

Williams 8. Was a consistent target on a day when nobody else on either team could manage it. It was not a day made for leading, marking full-forwards, yet he came up with 8 marks and 7 shots on goal. A pity his kicking wasn't as reliable as usual. His mark and goal bore the stamp of a true champion.

Cheers mate, great review. Timmy was BOG for mine. I think if people go back and look at his kicking last year and early this year they will find that he uses the ball quite well by foot and has come along in leaps and bounds. Thought Young wasn't much particularly in a contest where Hird marked and goaled i would have probably given him a 3. Bit stiff on Campbell did everything he was asked when oin the ground including some good body work in close for a couple of centre clearances, I would give him a 5.5. Your right about smith to none of those silly sideways runs, i think partially because it was wet and partially because of confidence and partially because of croady straightening us up.

My 3 2 1 were.
Clarke 3
Crawford 2
Hird 1
mentions to Everitt, Smith, Jacobs, Lucas  and Watson.

Oh and Browny for not smacking any of em in the gob and copping six weeks;)

Have been tougher on those two. Probably my expectations are higher. I though Willo missed some gettable shots, and got caught with the ball a few times. But yeah he has a case.

Mitchell seemed to start each quarter well then fade. Did his usual get hands on the ball, but still has played better games. If I give him a 9 then I'd have to give him a 13 when he plays to his best, so I marked him harsher.
