Season 2017 didn’t go to plan for Buckley, with form and injuries restricting the speedster to just one senior game.

The 24-year-old’s sole appearance came against the Western Bulldogs in Round 17, but a hamstring injury cut his afternoon short, sidelining him for the next two weeks.

Kreuzer’s 10th season was without a doubt the best of his career.

Reaping the rewards of an injury-free pre-season, the Blues’ big man battled manfully in each of his 21 appearances, averaging 15.29 disposals, 4.48 clearances and 31.67 hitouts per game.

The much-loved ruckman celebrated his 150th match in style with a one-point win over Greater Western Sydney in Round 12. In another outstanding performance, Kreuzer inspired his teammates with 21 possessions, 33 hitouts, six marks and a goal.

    OVERVIEW
Cripps’ season came to an abrupt end in Round 15, with a fractured leg sidelining him for the rest of the season.

It wasn’t the only setback the young gun suffered in 2017 – a year which highlighted his toughness and big heart.

A stress reaction in his back kept him off the track for a large chunk of pre-season, but he won his race against the clock to be fit for the Blues’ season opener.

With the hype surrounding his AFL debut building as the season progressed, McKay delighted fans when he pulled on his No.10 guernsey for the first time in Round 18.

Against Brisbane at The Gabba, the 19-year-old demonstrated his athleticism, gathering 11 disposals (seven contested), six marks and one goal.

Following an impressive first display in the navy blue, McKay retained his spot for the Blues’ clash with Geelong where he booted two majors in his first match at Etihad Stadium.

    OVERVIEW
On the back of two 36-disposal performances for the Northern Blues, Boekhorst earned a senior call-up for Carlton’s Round 13 clash with Gold Coast.

While he was unable to solidify a position in the senior side, Boekhorst managed to build consistency across the team’s final four games to finish his third season on a high.

He averaged a goal a game in his seven matches, with three of them earning him Carlton's Goal of the Week honours.

Provided two good highlights in two games for mine. That juggle mark and left foot goal. And the one that tapped and ran onto and outran the defender. That was enough for me for now.

    OVERVIEW
It was a season of contrasting halves for Kerridge.

The hardworking midfielder could only muster 17 disposals across his first two games in the first half of the season, but hit a strong vein of form to feature in the Blues’ last nine matches.

With Ed Curnow and Patrick Cripps succumbing to season-ending injuries, Kerridge made the most of his recall from the VFL, averaging 25 disposals in the back half of the season.

A knee injury delayed Lamb’s start to the season, with the former Swan and Giant’s first competitive hitout coming in Round 6 of the VFL.

After four weeks for the Northern Blues, Lamb was recalled for the clash with Greater Western Sydney, cementing a spot in Carlton’s forward line for the remainder of the season.

I'm glad that they are pumping these player reviews out quicker this year.
Agree that Kerridge deserves credit for his form in the second half of the year, but he still needs to work on his fumbles and disposal under pressure. This might be a slight contradiction but I'd like to see his contested/uncontested numbers reversed. As more of an inside mid and run with player he should be getting more 50/50s and hardballs. Happy to persist with him a bit longer but also happy for him to be pushed out as depth.

Thought Lamb was generally pretty good when he played. I like his inside 50 and score involvement numbers. Good link up player without having to get too much of the ball. Makes up for his lack of goals by getting others involved but would like to see him slot more if he continues to get regular games next year.

Still got a way to go but I thought he improved quite noticeably when he played the last 9 games straight. Can see him being around for a while longer.

    OVERVIEW
The Jones renaissance was undeniably Carlton’s best story of 2017.

Out of favour and out of contract at year’s end, the 26-year-old’s prospects of remaining a Blue beyond 2017 appeared grim at the dawn of the new season.

But what happened next will go down as one of the great rebirths of a footy career.

    OVERVIEW
Caleb Marchbank entered Carlton’s fold after seeking a trade to Ikon Park during last year’s trade period.

Keen to earn the respect of his new teammates, the former Giant put in the hard yards during pre-season to pull on the navy blue in Round 1.

On the opening night of the season, the 20-year-old turned heads with his instinctive read on the play, gathering five intercept marks and 13 intercept possessions against the Tigers.

He went on to become the first of five young Blues nominated for the 2017 NAB AFL Rising Star in Round 6, but was restricted to just 10 matches thereafter with injury playing another part in his third year in the AFL.
