His broken leg had NO IMPACT on 2006. Reason? He did it in 2004, and then played every game in 2005. There is a far simpler explanation - he is a lazy, complacent showpony. Hopefully the threat of being traded has shaken him up, I'll reserve judgement until the season proper.

totally agree partridge, a broken leg 18 months ago shouldn't mean you can only jog 30 metre's off your direct opponent as they carry the ball into the forward 50. Kelly cannot be kept on the books for another year unless he really extracts the digit. No premiership contenders can afford to carry around the weight of anything but commited, determined and team-orientated attitudes.

The cats have the players with the ability to go all the way, the question mark is over their mental toughness.

No Byrnes? I've noticed another post totally forgot about Byrnes too. This should be the year where he really starts to deliver in terms of his development IMO. His pace is dangerous and something we can use given our midfield can be a little one-paced and you'd imagine they've worked on his delivery.

I would name Byrnes in the NAB cup team but don’t rate him high enough to be included at senior level. Given we have fast players with better disposal I just can’t see him being included unless we have injuries. Maybe i underestimate him???

most people dont realise that we need team struture. for example we need to have either wojinski, callan or david johnson in the side to play on the quick small forwards. Bomber wont pick the best 22 players he will pick 22 players that will do all the jobs needed so we need small quick players because that is what we are lacking. in some of your sides you are saying that Josh Hunt would play on Aaron Davey, no chance, you need team structure

Yes he has pace but I think there are a few young guys with pace now that can also do that role through the middle.
Djerrkura, Varcoe, Tenace, Woj are all genuinely quick and there are a few more that wouldn't be considered slow (ablett, chapman etc)

I agree about Tenace, but everyone else I'd put behind Byrnes. Much is made about his disposal (like Tenace) but I'm not sure it's any worse than our "established" midfielders. At least he has genuine leg speed, which is a big gripe among most supporters here.

Think he will be a big chance to be a regular this year down back. Love his attack on the footy, his marking skills and has good speed. Needs to improve his kicking but in my mind is a better propect than Hunt for a back pocket position.

Its hard to select a team to match up with the oppisition without knowing who they are. This is our best 22, not a 22 to play on a certain team.

Sorry to be annoying 'Gogeelong' but it would be good if you spelt the names of players correctly... Callan, Wojcinski, Varcoe.
Are there suppose to be two 'Hunts' in the back line? I wouldn't rate Sam Hunt that highly...
Personally I wouldn't put Mackie in our best and have Enright sitting out?! Enright is one of our best players (IMO).
I take it thats Steve Johnson you have in your forward line... umm I don't consider him to be in our best at all... but thats just me. :)
Why is Byrnesy in the 'new blood' section, his been around for ages?

Hope that didn't sound to mean... eekkk i think it did sorry in advance. Can't wait till Hawkins is in our best team I'd even put him in now. hahaha ;)

I wouldn't rate Josh Hunt that highly.

Wouldn't he be in your top 22?

I don't rate him. I can recall the multiple times he has kicked into the man on the mark (eg vs. Port at AAMI stadium, FOX wouldn't let us forget that one), the infamous 'pull out' and the stupid smirk against the Demons before missing a goal.

Hunt is strong and does have a penetrative kick but I believe he is a one trick pony who's kick isn't as accurate as is often touted. Just an opinion and everyone's got one of those. Hunt frustrates me immensely..I want to believe but can't.

Apologies for the 'politicans' answer.

On that I agree. Also, I don't think he is as long as he was about three years ago. For a guy who's boot is pretty much his only weapon, it's not as good as it used to be, which is worrying!:(

I think he's just over confident with his delievery, and wants his kicks to be perfect. He then wants to prove how well he can kick by picking out guys who aren't always in the best position. He's arrogant with his kicking, if he wasn't, he would be a huge weapon.

Yeah, I agree. Way too arrogant. he seems to be aware of his image even while he's playing (strings out!! why??). Sure, the style is there, but of recent times, the substance hasn't been.
I'm a big fan of Josh's, but his form needs to improve big time this year for me.

Hey guys

i maybe pilloried for this post but anyway here goes...

I dont think Nathan Ablett has proven yet that he is in our best 22, he is a good player and im sure soime time in the future he may well be in our best 22 but not yet. Putting emotion aside and forgetting his last name for a sec, do u guys honestly believe he is in our best 22??

In my opinion our best team is this:

Egan Scarlett Harley
Rooke Milburn Hunt
Tenace Enright Ling
Chapman Mooney G Ablett
S Johnson Ottens Playfair
King Corey Bartel

I/C D Johnson, J Kelly, S Byrnes, B Prismall

I think he has now overtaken Playfair. He is our best 3rd tall in the forwardline IMO.
