One quick question
Barlow or Lewis Jetta???

Barlow for me, Jetta looks already to be a bit hit and miss (maybe it's the green boots??) and Barlow has consistency written all over him.. Mind you, 2 games each for both!

Mayne or Benny Warren vs Rohan & roughly 100k for the last spot on the forward line.

If by last spot you mean 9th (bench) then Rohan for sure, assuming he gets named R1. Otherwise, I'm leaning towards Warren. I've heard a number of NM fans talking him up for a breakout year.

Well, I meant the 7th spot. Warren does look a bit bulkier and more confident then last year. Currently have Mayne as my 6th and Warren as my 7th where as I replace either Mayne or Warren with Rohan then Rohan becomes my number 7 and have a 100k to spend elsewhere..

While I'm at it.. Gilbee vs Pratt? Can Pratt chase kicks like the year befoe last? Gilbee more focused this year after last year's emotional roller coaster ride which must of been tough on the lad..

Yeah, agree with the bold text, but don't actually know much about either tbh.

forward dilema. stevie.j, gia, higgins or buddy. all within 20K of eachother and i've changed my mind at least 20 times.
my views

stevie j - if the body stays right he can be a gun

gia - has had a killer preseason

buddy - has to improve on last year but out round 1

and higgins - i think the skys the limit for this bloke

opinions, thanks

Easy one for me, Buddy. Just make sure you have a rookie who's going to play round 1. Those other players are rather injury prone, Buddy isn't. He's dirty cheap and can score big.

Any help on these two combos thanks fellas.... :thumbsu:

Kennelly + Trengove (port) vs Ladson + Waters

&

Salter vs Ballantyne

Ladson and Waters have not set the world on fire in the preseason, although both have had a long lay off. Other players (you may already have i'd be considering ahead of all four include Malceski, Hunt, Greenwood, Goose.

&

Salter vs Ballantyne

Ballantyne's a lock. Had a taste of the big time last year and looks ready to build on that in 2010. Mature body, goal kicker...... Looked at Salter for a while, just can't see the scoring potential in the guy. I look for forward midfield types not young KPP.

N Krakouer (+90k or so) or P Bower 4th backline spot.

Cheers

Krakouer will score higher no doubt but is inconsistent, depends what you can do with the extra 90k but wouldn't really want Bower as my 4th backline player, so Krakouer..

Sorry if already done but Zibell or Medhurst?

stevie j - agree mostly, but even when fit can have low scoring games.

gia - agree, usually reliable and wouldn't be surprise if he spends a bit more time in the mids now that BBBBH is roaming the 50. Would be my 2nd pick here.

buddy - really like the way he looked vs Richmond, but it was Richmond. Still think he has huge potential from SC perspective and will absolutely without a doubt have a better year than last. Hawks are up and about, which means he should have a big year. At this price, my 1st choice here.

and higgins - agree he has p[otential but injury worries me. I haven't even considered him so far in my own team.

For mine, Ziebell.

But Medhurst will probably score OK too. Just a little more inconsistently and with not as much potential upside (IMO). He'll either save you with a 120+ score, or cruel you with a 17....

Hmmm, not sure how many 17s he'll pop up with. But you're right his range is potentiall anywhere from about 50 to 150. I'm not 100% sold on Ziebell though, not sure what it is.

The problem with both Buddy and Stevie J is you dont know what they are going to deliever week to week. I also think Stevie J will be managed through the season and will miss games.

I think Gia looks really good and may be the most consistent of the four.

Maybe its just me but I think higgins has got a bit ahead of himself, not sure he will become a superstar just yet.

In saying all that I currently have Buddy in my side ( he has the ability to score 120+ against average backlines. )

Swan and hawkins vs pendles higgins?

Pendles & Higgins.....

Pendles looks pretty cheap compared to Swan. Swan, if he hold his form (And I'm not convinced he will), could be an upgrade target later. But then again Montagna and Hayes are probably in front of him as potential upgrades.

Higgins because he just looks like he's going to keep scoring heavily Vs Hawkins who may have a good year but you can't see him reaching consistent 90+ points a game.

I have a bit of a weird one. Its basically midfield A vs midfield B.

Ablett, Swan, Montagna, Trengrove, Martin, Barlow

VS

Ablett, Selwood, Vince, Cooney, Martin, Barlow.

Now I know alot will say probably the 2nd option but the first allows me to have Goddard, Drummond, Enright and Hodge in the backline compared to 1st option that gives me a backline of Drummond, Enright, Hurn, Hodge.

And it may not be that crazy an idea starting 3 rookie midfielders in the centre since thats where the value is this season. I have Rohan and Shuey on the bench. If things go wrong in the midfield with the rookies then I can swing Pavlich, Dangerfield or Ziebell in there for support by swapping them with Rohan. :)

Will take alot of guts to go with 3 rookie mids in the midfield but I like to take risks, but not the "having no Ablett in my team" like Impromtu, thats too risky for me. LOL!

All opinions welcome. :thumbsu:

Just one question;

Who's going to be in your fwd line (And providing cover) when you swing Pav & Ziebell in there to cover Trengove, Rohan & Martin when they get omitted??

Not so worried about Rohan as he is there mainly as a link for duel position purposes and is on the bench anyways .

I reckon Martin and Trengrove are as safe as houses for at least the first 8-10 weeks which is all I need really.

Plus I have Barlow and Shuey who I think will play alot this season too and will get a good run early on. :o
