WAITE vs SYLVIA??

Both played 15 games last year..
Waite avg 87.8
Sylvia avg 88

Waite runs a risk of injury and suspension. Sylvia generally only injury. Sylvia's also generally regarded as having a better chance of improving to a 100 average, though I'm not quite convinced as yet.

Polec V Heppell

Swinging towards Heppell as he is DP

I'd take Heppell over Polec. Bombers tend to be more likely to play their youngsters consistently. We often bring our's in and out of the team to rest them.

polec vs gaff

Bartel +80k vs chapman

polec vs gaff

Bartel +80k vs chapman
Bartel. He has averaged over the last coulple of years 100points+, this is not to say that Chapman has not done well, but personally I think Bartel is the safer option he has done well over the pre-season and I feel that he is massively underpriced.

Didak and Grimes because of the MPP

Watson vs Boyd vs Bartel?
Personally I'd go Bartel. Not only do you save yourself 20-odd grand but betting on the fact Geelong should still be well and truly in the finals mix come year end, with no GAblett, you'd think his scoring should go up a touch (i.e. taking points once upon a time allocated to GAblett). However, Boyd is in a good but aging list looking for a final tilt in their premiership window.... and I'd not be going Watson for the fact I have Hibberd in my MID & don't wanna double up, also I think I'd rather go Bartel, Boyd or even Andy Swallow over him (just personal preference really, no magical stat for reasoning, just rather the other blokes & the teams they're in & their roles.)

Just trying to settle my last on field spots, then rookies will be only ones needed to be changed imo.

Which group of 3 is the best:
Duffield/Cox/Knights
Broughton/Cox/Gamble (current selection)
Broughton/Jolly/Knights
Under 130k defender/Cox/Chapman.
Adcock/Jolly/Morton

Kieran Jack vs Josh P Kennedy? So far on nab cup form Kennedy is smashing it and is 100k cheaper

For me I would go with Jack, he is only going to improve given the way he plays the game; he doesn't rely on silk rather hard work. This is great for an improving player because he will not take a step back.
Kennedy has killed it in the NAB cup, but it is the NAB cup, so you can’t look too much into it. This could be his breakout year, but come round 1 his role may change. But if you want to take a risk and get a unique player the reward could be very good.

Both are very inconsistent there are far better options.

Remember Kennedy got 30 odd touches but only just hit the 100 mark. Last year hit the 100 just 4 times.

Petrie or Knights?
Taking in mind by selecting Petrie I can get Sam Gilbert and use him as a Ruckman but also that Petrie will miss Round 1 and 3.

Also I need two more Midfielders costing under 300,000 combined.
I already have Swallow and Harris. And currently have Wallis and Polec but am thinking there might be better combinations.

And last up: S Selwood, J Sherman, L Shuey or C Masten?
I currently have S Selwood as I'm expecting him to have a big year. But Sherman would probably be a more reliable option. Shuey and Masten also have the potential to have big years, but are big risks.

Thoughts on the above questions would be much appreciated,
Cheers :thumbsu:

Knights. Have same reward level imo but Knights is the littlest bit less risky imo. Who would you have as the defender? Hurn?

Polec/Gaff and Hibberd? Hibberd is probably in your defence but if you get Heppell/Hibberd in the defence and mids you can swap them around freely.

Don't expect any to be reliable. Would take Shuey as he has the highest ceiling imo.

Price difference is significant here so Duigan gets the nod. Of course, everyone needs to watch who gets a game round 1.

Also, significant risk now that once either of them play one average game they will be dropped!

Yep, was leaning towards Duigan because of the price range, both should have similar impacts on the playing field, and you're right about either of them hitting an average game.

Any other rookies I should consider instead of laidler? I have already have R. Tarrant, Otten, Toy, Puopolo & Heppell.

Dangerfield or Yarran?

Dangerfield will be the popular choice but i'm not convinced he will have a huge step up in average from last year. Doesn't get enough of the ball for mind to be worth picking. Yarran a more unique choice, if he is running off half back this year he could be a very handy player to have, can use the ball well and should hopefully get plenty of cheap possessions. Personally i'd take Yarran if he stays in the Blues backline.

Mine has probably been done before but thoughts on Conca v's Polec v's Gaff for a starting spot in my midfield. Finding it hard to split them. I have Conca in at the moment.

I have got a couple:

Michael Coad (Gold Coast Suns) V Peter Faulks (Fremantle Dockers)

Currently have Coad who has been with the Suns throughtout the past 12 months and had a solid season at VFL level, holding his own, whilst Peter Faulks, one would think, will play every game if fit.

Jack Redden (Brisbane Lions) $370,500 V Rory Sloane (Adelaide Crows) $366,000 V Ben Howlett (Essendon Bombers) $363,800 V Liam Anthony (Kangaroos) $362,900 V Jack Trengove (Melbourne Demons) $363,600 V Rhys Palmer (Fremantle Dockers) $343,600

Redden is heading into his 3rd season now, played every game last year for a 76.1 points per game average, whilst he should only get better. Cracked a hundred on 5 occasions, and only went below 50, once, whilst his 5 lowest scores were: 49, 52, 53, 56, 57. Will consider him. Havent been following him this pre season, but any reports will be good.

Rory Sloane is another youngster who seems set for a breakout season, fter losing his spot in round 1 after a disappointing game (51 points), Sloane broke back into the team in round 10 and held his spot, averaging 77 points per game in this time. Has had a stellar pre season so far, whilst a best on ground display yesterday has thrown him up the pecking order.

Benny Howlett is an interesting proposition, I am inclined to pick Essendon players (except rookies), however, he had a fantastic debut season last year, averaging 74.7 points per game, however, this pre season most Essendon supporters are under the impression he will get a lot more game time and will play the number two role to Jobe which should amount to more points.

Jack Trengove is an interesting proposition, a second year, the dubious second year blues may come into effect and he could struggle, whilst the number 2 draft pick from a couple of years ago seems like the perfect player to break those shackles.

Liam Anthony is a perenial supercoach plus, after injury ruined his stellar start to season 2010 in which he was averaging 82.9 points per game, he could provide fantastic value at $362,000. 2009, he averaged over 90 + before injury in his 10 games, whilst last year saw 3 of his 7 games crack the ton. Would he be the best bet? 7 of his 17 career games he has broken the hundred, whilst his 5 lowest career scores are: 71, 74, 75, 78, 83. He seems like the best bet, even with his injury history.

Rhys Palmer is the last one I am looking at, at $343,600 he could be something special. The only queries would be, will he play every game? is he even in their best 22? what will his impact be? will his injuries effect his scores? He has previously averaged 87 (season 1) so he certainly has the ability to score well. Just not sure if he has the same consistency to do this week in week out in '11.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks guys.

Faulks is having a pretty average preseason in the games so far, so I wouldn't bank on him playing every game if fit. Because GC doesn't play in Round 1, I'd pick Coad if Faulks isn't selected, but would explore other options with more guaranteed game time.

Jack Redden (Brisbane Lions) $370,500 V Rory Sloane (Adelaide Crows) $366,000 V Ben Howlett (Essendon Bombers) $363,800 V Liam Anthony (Kangaroos) $362,900 V Jack Trengove (Melbourne Demons) $363,600 V Rhys Palmer (Fremantle Dockers) $343,600

I'd probably go Anthony > Trengove > Redden, and not go near any of the others.
