With supercoach (well, supercoach gold) opening up we might as well start this thread up for 2014.

Basically put any x vs y questions in here that you can't decide, try and answer the one above you before you ask yours though.

Hurn v Waters?

If fit I'd go Waters easily.

Waters has the most scoring potential for sure and wont cop a forward tag on him like Hurn does.

Ok which 2 out of McVeigh, Bartel, Walker and Mitchell do you think are best for starting with next year?

Thoughts? o_O

I like McVeigh and Bartel.

Can't remember but Hurn costs a bit more than Waters, however Hurn is a lot more durable than Waters.

HURN, Shannon
$472,000 (priced at 87.5 average from 12 games - no injury discount) = priced about right for his expected output

WATERS, Beau
$402,200 (82.86 ave - priced at 75.5 ave injury discount) = under valued. Always an unjury risk though.

I read the other day somewhere where MM said something about using Walker as a swingman this year. Everitt to play back when Walker goes forward. This is a worry, as I can't see Walker averaging much better than 80ppg if played as a meduim forward for whole games. Which is what he averaged in 2011 (82.8 from 22 games) when played forward all year. Even if he plays 70/30 Def/Fwd I'd expect his average to fall to around 90-95 should this be the case.

where would sookerty and yarran play? both supercoach specialists and sookerty can score well when given a go and yarran once was pretty good

Yarran = forward and back. Like with Walker & Simon White, MM has said he will use Yaz as a swingman also. Doc will play HBF/Wing. Will have to earn a spot though. Just like at Brissy, don't think he's a lock for starting 21 with us just yet. Will need a very solid pre-season to get early games.

Mine is M.Murphy vs D.Thomas and why? o_O
Both. Cash cows.
Ablett v Pendlebury???
Have to say Pendles just on price. GAJ will drop at first price change I would have thought.
Hurn v Waters?
Waters - from a cash point of view.

Assuming that's S Mitchell, then Mitchell and Bartel (with apologies to McVeigh). Based on consistency value.

Don't laugh but Dixon vs Bellchambers.

Can see Bellchamblers pushing his average up next year with no more Hill and Crameri anymore.

Not a bad option if you want to go a bit unique. He is due for a breakout season.

Dixon by the relative length of John Holmes

Depends...are either of Nicholls or ZSmith going to be available for the first few rounds?

Murphy's last 6 years. 99.1, 112.9, 111.9, 118.0, 112.7 & 92.4* with no pre-season and a broken cheekbone & first year as captain with a new coach. Hardly a cash cow though. If 100% fit he's a 110+ average keeper who is now in his prime.
Well, no, not cash cow per say. Clearly at 500k he wont earn you too much, but definitely cheap as chips. IMO will rise at some point to 580 odd and then upgradable at that stage. Worth the punt I reckon at that price.

Dixon by the length of the Flemington straight. Even as a pure forward he's capable of pushing out consistent 80-100 per week, but he'll most likely pinch hit in the ruck as well. Bellchambers gets rotated with Ryder and I didn't see much from either when they were 'rested' up forward.

Bit like how I started with NRoo with the intent to treat him as a cash cow until Rd8 or so then upgrade him to a proper premo last year. Ended up a keeper who averaging 105 for the year or when I traded in Jelwood when he was averaging 92 and had a low B/E. I only traded him in because of his low B/E with the intent of trading up to a proper mid premo like Griffen or Barlow who were killing it at the time in a few weeks time. Nek Minnit Jelwood averages 130+ from the time I traded him in and he became my perma-captain over the last 10 rounds or so. Quality is quality, if you judge a player on their last dozen or so games instead of looking at the big picture over their careers, you are doing it wrong IMHO.

Kade Simpson V Hanley?

Close, but Hanley due to B/M DP. Cant see Simmo averaging any higher than 95 where as Hanley still has some upside and could realistically average 100-105 this year playing in the mids.

Simpson easily, will be one of the best defenders next season.

Griffen vs Watson.

S.Thompson vs S.Mitchell.

I'd go with Watson. As much as I love Griffen, Watson has performed extremely well throughout all the accusations and the scandals. If that's resolved by next season, he'll come out breathing fire and have something to prove.

I assume you mean North Thompson? I think with Mitchell, McVeigh, Bartel and Walker all being defenders, he could be a nice POD. But you can't ignore Mitchell. It's effectively another midfielder in your side, and you want as many mids as humanly possible.
