Hang on, I must have woken up in some alternate dimension this morning? Good collingwood marketing? This is strange... Let's hope the trend continues.

If the players genuinely want us to do it when they get in a huddle pre game, I'm fine with that.

Still sceptical that it's just another "match day experience" technique from the club.

The best Collingwood chants have always been spontaneous.

I'll follow the crowd though, if you all start up, I'll join in.

I prefer these things to be inspired spontaneously, but it sure beats Micheal Jackson and a dance troupe.
Small mercies.

It still can happens spontaneously during the game

I think the Match Day Experince are trying to bring the Fans that don’t come to games and bring Families to the Footy again.

Aimed at not-fantical fans who go to every possible game they can

I agree that the best chants are the spontaneous ones, but that doesn't mean there shouldn't be organised ones either.

I've always thought that when we are down by say 20 points, it's always a good time to organise a chant and motivate the players.

This is great. I love a call to arms.

When you are on the ground or in the crowd and hear that noise it doesn't sound any different whether it is spontaneous or not. Just sounds like support.

We need to dig up some some Welsh Collingwood supporters. Those guys chant/sing/harmonise whatever through every game of every sport they attend. I've even heard them start up in a pub watching a replay!

The leaders, promoted this as if it was their idea in the first place, wouldn't surprise me.

Pendles: "How awesome is that Collingwood chant when it gets going!"

Others: "Makes the hair on my neck stand up"

Everyone: *Idea clicks, contact media department, make video.

I agree it's more awesome when it's spontaneous and it's when they have earned it after dominating a game and have it in the bag where we do the chant and it rubs it right into the opposition, drags em down and they know it's over. It's our golden jacket moment.
But if they want it pre game too then ok, let's do it.

I mean, I love this chant when it's spontaneous and deserved (I still remember hearing it through the TV speakers watching us beat the Cats in the 2010 prelim late in the third quarter) and that is what makes the hair on the back of your neck stand up!

So I'd prefer we went down that path and just let it happen at some point. Preferably finals footy or beating and old foe or someone who were heavily back into favouritism.

As much as this sounds probably a touch school sport -ish, I wouldn't be against other types of chants in the build up or before the match. I went to a Grammar school who were very competitive in a number of sports and we had a few pretty catchy chants, but the one I loved the most was the "HUSSHHHHH" when any other school tried making a chant. It worked well because our supporters always outnumbered other schools and we could drown them out easily.

There are few things I despise more than when Joffa puts on that jacket.

Knowing a couple of the players, and ex players, they all really enjoy the chant.

I remember one saying something like, when we start to get a run on and we hear the chant get up.....you stop feeling ****ed and want to smash in.

So wouldn't be surprised if there is at least, some, player input.

YES! THIS! THIS IS WHAT WE NEED!

We made the long slow chant of "Collingwood" a trend back in our premiership year. Now Fremantle probably do it best, let's make that chant our war cry. When teams play Collingwood at the mighty MCG and the fans are belting out COLLLLLLIIIIIINGWOOOOOOOD, they're in for a rough day!

Mmm! I reckon I saw him wearing that in the second quarter last weekend. It may have been third, not sure, but the moment I saw that stupid jacket on the big screen I knew we'd be in for a tough end to the match.

Winning is more than enough Joffa, don't need to be a toss about it.

When the crowd starts chanting, it is a conscious decision by each person to show how they support their club. When Joffa puts the jacket on, it's one knob who doesn't represent us all, getting unnecessary exposure. Kind of like Mark Stevens at press conferences

Good initiative by the club. We really need to get a presence again. I agree with those who said spontaneity tends to make for the most effective chants - nothing will top that third quarter chant of the 2010 prelim for me.... Boy oh boy wowee - but I think if it can even fire the boys up an extra 1% before the opening bounce it will be beneficial given poor starts in recent history.

The chant before the GF replay was amazing too. Totally drowned out the Saints song.
