I prefer these things to be inspired spontaneously, but it sure beats Micheal Jackson and a dance troupe.
Small mercies.
I agree that the best chants are the spontaneous ones, but that doesn't mean there shouldn't be organised ones either. If the players genuinely want us to do it when they get in a huddle pre game, I'm fine with that.
Still sceptical that it's just another "match day experience" technique from the club.
The best Collingwood chants have always been spontaneous.
I'll follow the crowd though, if you all start up, I'll join in.
There are few things I despise more than when Joffa puts on that jacket. The leaders, promoted this as if it was their idea in the first place, wouldn't surprise me.
Pendles: "How awesome is that Collingwood chant when it gets going!"
Others: "Makes the hair on my neck stand up"
Everyone: *Idea clicks, contact media department, make video.
I agree it's more awesome when it's spontaneous and it's when they have earned it after dominating a game and have it in the bag where we do the chant and it rubs it right into the opposition, drags em down and they know it's over. It's our golden jacket moment.
But if they want it pre game too then ok, let's do it.
Mmm! I reckon I saw him wearing that in the second quarter last weekend. It may have been third, not sure, but the moment I saw that stupid jacket on the big screen I knew we'd be in for a tough end to the match. There are few things I despise more than when Joffa puts on that jacket.
When the crowd starts chanting, it is a conscious decision by each person to show how they support their club. When Joffa puts the jacket on, it's one knob who doesn't represent us all, getting unnecessary exposure. Kind of like Mark Stevens at press conferencesMmm! Winning is more than enough Joffa, don't need to be a toss about it.
And that's what it's all about!I reckon It's great, anything that helps get the boys fired up! Plus other teams/supporters hate it!
