Strikes me as an early call on some, especially Witts & Fasolo. Certainly don't expect all of them to go but history tells us some will likely want to seek greener pastures (more opportunity) by end of next year.
There are normally 4 or 5 that go, so that we can pick up players from the draft.

Updated contact status for the club following last nights AFL draft.

Just the rookie draft to finalise the list.

We will have 3 picks in the RD but these are basically done (Golds/Keeffe/Thomas).

Wouldn't we have 4 RD selections? (Senior list currently 39 & 1 Cat A rookie (Gault) and total of senior & rookie excluding Cat B should be 44.

Yep, 4 picks including Keeffe and Thomas. Golds could be 1.

Really excellent resource.
The big interest for me is looking at players up for contract end of next year that you could argue are either at the cross roads, getting a bit long in the tooth, or simply being in the jury is out category. Or rookie or junior types not quite there. Probably another category or so.

Looking at next years contract boys.
Fasolo, Macaffer, White, Blair, Adams, Witts, Brown, Sidebottom, Keefe*, Thomas*, Williams, Goodyear, Broomhead, Toovey, Swan, Frost and rookies Smith, Golds, Gault. Wyatt cat B.

Looking at these players who should worry? All of them except Adams, Sidebottom, Williams, Swan.
They will definitely wanted big time. Then add just about as safe Witts, Brown, Broomhead. There would have to be some offer before they were not wanted.
Make no mistake Witts as a ruck is super important. Never give them up easily.
Fasolo I think likely in safe category but he better have a very good year.
Frost needs to ensure he's seen as added value. Likely safe enough.
Then we have Macaffer, Toovey and Blair and even Goodyear as being very vulnerable....
The rest, bar White, are needing big years or they will be viewed as possible delisted, Smith, Golds, Gault.
Rookies each year tend to be the most vulnerable.
Wyatt is different category, I believe, happy to stand corrected.

Now comes White, much maligned but he better show his value and hope he gets a real run at it when Cloke, Moore, Howe with Elliot are doing well and he offers something extra himself.

But then again, who knows, there's free agency, players may want new opportunities.

But at the end each player has their own opportunity to go and earn their place.

Interesting to see how much Cloke will ask for in his next contract and what the club is prepared to pay. I think there will still be a few clubs looking to sign him up on good coin when his contract is up end of 2017

Hes on the veterans list, So we can pay him more outside of the cap.
I think the rules of the veterans has changed used to be 50% discount, now might be far less maybe even only 10% somebody will know for sure, the 10% rings a bell but not certain

It's capped at something like $112k or $116k.

It will no doubt be an unpopular view but I would keep everyone (including Toovey Blair White Goldsack Macaffer) on that list and only look at a Goodyear and rookies like Gold Smith and Gault if they don't come up.

The attrition rate in football is so high I think you have to keep as much depth and experience as possible when you enter your window, and for us that's the 2017 season.

Steele Sidebottom signed apparently 5 years I believe please check years time
Jack Crisp signed three years
Taylor Adams signed three years.

Happy Days

I want to dedicate this thread to Dwayne Russell. First of all, it's either Dane or Wayne. His parents were clearly taking the piss. Anyway, has anyone noticed how often he mentions Collingwood players coming out of contract when he calls Collingwood games. Loves it. Apparently when it comes to Geelong or Port Power players, he has no clue. Mischievous son of a bitch.
