Have you noticed that Gardiner's form has a direct correlation with WCE's win/loss record?

He seems to have a greater impact in this area than any other Eagle IMO. While Kerr and Cousins are consistently brilliant, I think Gardiner is a good barometer for the team.

Who do you think is important for the Eagles to do well week to week?

Heheh your quick on the draw Larrikin!

If Wilson and Fido dont kick goals we lose...simple as that. It's hard to judge Cousins as he usually plays very well all the time so whether we win or lose is of no indication. Although we dont win games where Cousins only get 15 or so disposals.

Gardiner though is probably the most important player, when he is on we usually win.

Yep! He is a great barometer of the team. he can be quiet damaging when he plays well. He knows when to push forward across half forward and provide a marking option. He kicks a good long bomb on the run. But when he's useless, my god does Cox have to work hard!
Actually, I must say Cox has done a good job of filling in for Gardiner!

Cox did ok for us in the middle of the year and we won games, so I'm not too sure if Gardiner is the best judge. Also Cousins had a few bad games in the 2nd half of the season and we still came up trumps.

Wirrpunda and Jakovich can often be used as a guide if we play well or not.

Wilson IMO. Whenever he plays well, we score lots of goals.

For example, how good did he play against the Roos in rd22? And I'm not just referring to the goals he scored, but also to the fact that he takes the opposition's best defender out of the game.
Then look at his game against Essendon, where he was held very well by Fletcher and we virtually had no forward structure. Didn't kick goals and allowed Fletcher too much freedom in defence.

I thought about Wilson, but I think it's a bit different with him. I think he plays well because the Eagles are playing well, not the other way around. When the delivery is good to him we are usually on top in the midfield.

I think this was demonstrated when Lynch came in and played well with Willo out.
