He wouldnt get much for him , he is our weak link and the whole AFL knows it people say but he breaks the lines and kicks the great running goals (he did this more in 02 n 03). Yes on occasion he does do this but alot of the time (this season especially) he chipped it around and put un-due pressure on team mates , he never wins 1 on 1 , is as soft as butter and should not be in our line up full stop.

If we put him up for trade bait I reckon we will get something. Ryan is a 6'2 wingman and a raking left-foot kick. He reinvented himself to an untraditionalist tagger that is evident in his performance against Adam Goodes. He won't be a star by any means but although he has shown the ability that sets him apart from your average footballer on his day.

He's entiltled to wear the Black and White stripes and I hope he continues to play the sort of football we get accustomed to. He's far from the worst on the list.

I was about to point out that they were both bottom aged when I saw your post Royal. Both players would be extremely hard done by if they were chopped off the list after 2007 one feels.
Scott Pendlebury, Ryan Cook, Danny Stanley and John Anthony were all born in 1988.

Nathan Brown, Chris Dawes, Brad ********, Brent Macaffer and Sharrod Wellingham were all ALSO born in 1988. Tyson Goldsack was born in 1987.

The fact is, these kids are pretty young. You won't often see a kid delisted after 2 years unless he's shown less than nothing. Even Brent Hall survived for 3 years. Iacobucci was an unlucky one, but I have no doubt that he would have been kept if not for it being such a strong draft this year.

Bring back the Booch.

Did anyone actually watch last season, O'Bree was good and Lonie improved and arguably had his best season and the best game of his career vs. Sydney. It seems selected people saw that they were going pretty good and waited for them to f*** it up and when they do their mistakes are polarised and pointed out.

I think the Booch is going to be one of those classics, where people yell and scream about letting him go, but in reality, he never actually does anything.

It should be called getting "McGoughed"

I agree about O'bree but not lonie gee he had 1 good game against Sydney. Since you want to highlight 1 game I will to the final against WB lonie was shown up for the front running soft hack he is, he even walked behind a ball that was going through for a goal and didn't even try and stop it. the dogs players were ripping him about being a soft bitch with no heart and even his own team mates didn't defend him.

Damien Adkins, anybody?

Injuries robbed him, he is quick but although seems to lack great skills. I feel sorry for him in the sense that West Coast gave him a second chance. I doubt he was re-drafted for the right reasons. There's no way Malthouse will take him back and he's not known for going down that path. Physically you have to question if he's capable of playing league football having missed far too many games.

It seems the Booch was overlooked and I can't argue with that. This is where he couldn't cut the mustard, but life goes on!

Adkins was never delisted - He was traded for Andrew Williams, and realistically, we probably got more good games out of Andrew Williams than Adkins...

I fail to see that O'bree had a "good" year...

He started off well for the first 10 weeks then slumped when the going got tough in the middle of the year. And please dont sprout how many possesions he picks up because his shocking disposal mean he turns the ball over probably 25% of the time.

An average year at best.We arent going to win any flags with him in our best 22

And this so called "shocking" player is our leader in clearances, first possessions and tackles, so if you think that the soft play in the elimination final was poor, just think - He's the hardest man we've got.

He's not a worldbeater, but he's hardly who I'd be targeting.

whats the point of leading in clearances if you just turn it over?

and if he the "hardest" player we have then we have major problems.

Tackling doesnt make you hard either sometimes it just means you are just second to the ball...

Its not just the fact that players are unlucky to get chopped after 2 years its also the fact that they were taken as bottom agers and hence 2006 should be called development year and 2007 should be called year 1 at Collingwood fc.

I honestly can't see how you can put Tarks and Neon on the chopping block when we still have Rocca. He doesn't mark, doesn't chase, and I'm fed up with watching him drop easy chest marks. Should've left him in Sydney. O'Bree needs to improve as well. Wakes will go at the end of the year. Draft a big full back pies, Presti can't go on forever.
i have sacked lockyer as a back pocket got to many kicked on him.what position was nathan brown picked in the under 18 s all australian team full back i thought

I am highlighting one game because he showed he could actually be a good tagger of the tall midfielders the ilk of Goodes and even beat them. Lonie had a solid season both defensively and offensively. It wasn't his breakthrough season but a step in the right direction. He improved his tackling and ball getting and to some extent (although not right through the season) improved on the harder stuff including hard ball gets. But it's easier to remember the uglier stuff like his final game.

He leads the clearences and first possesions yet he's 2nd to the ball?

I agree with all that. He definitely had a better year in 2006, if not his best. Which should increase his trade value when we finally get rid of him.

There are so many knockers of Tarks and Lonie. Lonie has no excuse but Tarks is an excellent clubman, averaged over 18 disposals last year and has come back from a career threatening injury. I'd be looking at chopping Rhyce instead of Tarks. But you wait and you watch R. Shaw and Didak. They won't be the same after their knee recos. Tarks has finished 2nd in the BF and he's always giving a hundred percent. The only player to improve after a knee reco I can think of is James McDonald. Go through a list of players to have knee recos and you will see what I mean. Tarks is a bloody courageous player. Rocca and Lonie have no excuse, neither does Richards with a bad year. Stop knocking Tarks, he's the team scapegoat. If you watched him closely he does more stuff of the ball then anyone except for maybe Brodie and Sir Nathan Buckley.

I don't think lockyers reco has a hell of a lot to do with him not being as valuable as he was before the reco. I think as each year has past in his career the game has gotten quicker. I believe that had he not had the reco he would be in the same possition as he is in now. Most people seem to be forgetting something. He was always slow. I don't see him being any slower or less agile than he was. He was moved out of the backline before the reco because he was being found out due to his pace and now he is back there again because there is no where else to play him. The reason he is not effective is that when he get the ball he seems to stop the play or is slow in his decision making. The opposition backs flood and out forwards have no hope. Then he gets found out going the other way. As a person(based on what I have seen in the media) I have a great deal of respect for tarkyn and can see why he is considered a leader but on field I think they game has past him by.

I don't think rhyce has lost and ounce of pace or agility due to his reco. In the last couple of game he was back to his best. He was aguably our best player in the final against the dogs which is the game that mattered most.

It just doesn't make sense. Stats lie people. Seriously, we look back to premiership teams over the past few eyars. not one obree amongst them. The key ingredient to getting the ball, is also disposing of it. Forget how many touches, clearances he gets etc; the reall stat we're after is clanger kicks and ineffective touches.

Sure, o'bree may gather 25 touches, but if 7 of them go to the opposition how does that help our cause?
Why not play a player who gets the pill 15 times, but hurts opposition sides 15 times.

I'll repeat it always, a guy like O'bree will never win you premierships; and that's what this footy club is in the competition to do.

True Johnno. I mean the extractors are an important part of the game but most of them can still hit a target. Jeez, I would have loved to have grabbed Sam Mitchell at pick 70 in the draft about 4 or 5 years ago.
