I went through our list and looked ath the players who are having thier last chance to impress at the AFC. Here are the players who I think will have to have major improvements to stay on the list:

6. Ben Nelson - too slow and his disposal leaves a lot to be desired
12. Robert Shirley - tagger and nothing more really. Lucky to be redrafted
22. Ian Perrie - a hard worker who cannot kick. Gets the ball but wastes it about 90% of the time
27. Daniel Schell - Soft! Soft! Soft!
31. Ben Marsh - Soft! Soft! Soft!

On the brink:

1. Andrew Crowell
13. Matthew Smith

These five players have been around for a fair while without improving a great deal.

Thoughts?????

Nelson, Shirley, Perrie and Schell are all dead ducks unless the proverbial miracle happens. I have them in the DDD (definite dead duck) category.

Marsh will go if they trade for another ruckman which they should do.

Crowell has the talent, but a lack of consistency could be his undoing.

Smith has only had 2 years before this year, but would have to be threatening a spot by the end of the year to feel comfortable.

With the number of youngsters all vying for a mid-field spot, James Gallagher could be under a bit of pressure unless the breaks go his way for a change.

Lets hope he start with a ripper on saturday because he is a real excitement machine when on song. Who could forget that game against the saints in Rd 15 last year??????:D

Yep I agree with your choices and the bit about Marshs one saving grace Macca.

Id love to see Perrie do a McGregor and resurrect what appears to be going down the gurgler because he works so damn hard.

And minor improvements could be enough to get him there.

I watched him on Friday night and he was shocking. He was really loose and just how much more kicking practice does he need? It ain't improved over summer.

Wayne Carey Number 2:D Idiot

Graham John**** Number 18:D

And neither of them are under threat:D

I really hope James Gallagher has a great year this year he deserves it:D

Schell and Shirley I believe are the two that are lucky to still be there from last year and would be favourites to go if they dont improve this year, I really think nelson has had very limited opportunities to prove himself but maybe he will get a chance this year:) Marsh well what do you say he is required until we find another decent backup ruckman, till then we have to put up with him,but one would feel he will have to have a pretty good year:rolleyes:

Spot on with the exception of adding Marsh to the DDD list - regardless of trading for another ruckman.

Nothing wrong with what the Pred said, sure Wayne Carey now wears number 2 but you can't expect every bit of news on Wayne Carey to reach Tokyo.

From memory there have been a few bigger issues relating to the duck this year!

Personally I would check the facts before making a smart ass comments:rolleyes:

It easy just log onto the afc.com.au go to player profiles and click on Wayne Carey. Doesn't take a genius but then again we are talking about a porky powder supporter here.

interesting about crowell.from an outsiders view here he has the build to replace roo in the middle.maybe thats why some of you think he,s on his last chance?roo,s shoes would be hard to fill.

cheers!
Unfortunately Crowell hasn't got the hardness of Roo. IMO, Crowell's main problem is that he has been used as a utility type & has never really been settled in one position. Played his best footy across HB last year when he strung a few games together.

That's true, it would be easy to do that, wouldn't it.

And the reason I didn't is that I couldn't give a fat black rat's toss bag what number he wears.

Stiffy, talk about getting your knickers in a knot!

You know exactly what he meant whether the Pred said 18 or 2.

And should the Pred really care as to what guernsey number the duck now wears???

I wouldn't think so.

Just like you wouldn't really care as to what guernsey numbers Michael Wilson and Byron Pickett wear.

I had almost forgotten how petty some Crows supporters are, then again I suppose this is a good introduction to the weekend.

Can't wait to give you guys another beating! :D

You are right I really don't care what number either of those 2 wear BUT if I was to make a smart ass comment like you powder friend there, I would have done some research:rolleyes:
