Players out of Contract

I am not sure King deserves a spot on the list.

I think he has limited improvement in him - so therefore what we have seen is the best he will be IMO not good enough to be around when our "window opens".

Maybe Rookie list again if we can.

I think King can be a handy player.

Im sure he is the type of bloke who has been written off before but suprised people as to where he has gotten in football.

He is no champion but I think he can improve with the list. I prefer players who are DOING something now instead of suggesting glimpes.

fair enough - if we can't rookie list him then he should be given a year or two. he has showed enough coyurage and fight to deserve this, I just have questions on wether his skill level will pick up.

Being a fiesty midget, plough will love him.

Sadly, I have to agree with this. I know everyone deserves to have a bad game every once in a while, but I think he genuinely got showed up on Saturday night. All his flaws were there on display. Ticker alone won't make you an AFL player. he has plenty of that, but not a lot else from what I can see. Hope I'm proven wrong.

I have been saying this for the last month or so and have been shot down because of it. Nonetheless I still think he will garner a new contract on the main list. Maybe a low 1 or 2 year deal

Although I said he was out of contract I have a funny feeling that JON might have signed a 3 year deal when he was first drafted. Either way, despite his apparant lack of progress, he should be kept on the list for another 2 years.

Btw, I also think that Clingan will get at least another year on the rookie list to further proove himself as he wasn't a mature aged rookie like King and Howatt

My delistments are:
- Gasper
- Krakouer
- Knoble
- Hartigan
- Kingsley
- Moore (pay out any contract he might have)
- 2 of Jackson/Meyer/Hyde/Tivendale
- Hall (I don't car if he is another KPP, he simply doesn't deserve a place on the list)*

Thats 9 which means 5 picks in the ND, 1 pick in PSD, 2 picks in the rookie draft (elevate King, Gasper was a Vet)

Our picks would then be hopefully:

ND 1, 17, 19, 35, 51
PSD 1
Rookie Draft 1, 17

* As its a shallow draft we may be forced to keep Hall and only draft 4 players in the ND

what about trying to trade Brown for draft picks he is 30 next year might get something for him or does he offer to much as a mentor to our young forwards and the ability to win games of his own boot

If we got the right offer he isn't ubtradeable

Going from all the calls for various heads on this board and knowing how much notice the richmond brains trust takes of the opinions herewith, i suggest the following will be delisted/traded:
Gaspar
Raines
J. Bowden
P. Bowden
Knobel
Johnson
Kingsley
Hall
Tuck
Meyer
Jackson
Schulz
Krakouer
JON
Hyde
Tivendale
Hartigan
Moore
Howat

That's 19, leaving 22.

B - McGuane Thursfield King
HB - Polo Polak Connors
C - Deledio Newman Edwards
HF - Pettifer Hughes Peterson
F - Riewoldt Richo Brown
R - Simmonds Coughlan Foley
I - Graham Pattison White Casserly
Plus Kreuzer/Cotchin.
No dead wood, we'll win the flag and save on the salary cap.

give or take a Pettifer for a Meyer and JON that might yet learn the craft of releasing when its time to release, along with another chance to Raines to get back to what he was last year. IMO just about nailed it with that one dude. ;)

JON won't be delisted, you don't give 1st round picks 2 years, you always invest more time into them.

I'd keep Patrick Bowden, has been injured for most of 2007 and he was great in '06. Others such as, Hyde/Tivva have been injury free and have no excuses.

Our Kids are good just are not built up yet big pre season on weights bulk up let go off kent,Krak and trade tiv it would be good for him and us and also look at moving tuck on

Depends how nervous Wallace really is about his job. If he's worried, he might keep some older 'OK' players, but if he keeps the courage of his convictions, he'll scrap some for young players who are possibly better ( late picks ).

Case in point being P. Bowden/Hyde/Tivendale. Good players, should probably be in the 22 on current ability, but have little upside. Do you drop them, play kids, and add a couple of 50/50 prospects to the list? We'll probably keep one just for the depth/experience, even if we dont play them a lot. I'd keep Hyde...He's only 24, and I like the way he runs.

Also, as I've said before Unless we can be fairly confident of getting a decent mature ruckman, we pretty much have to keep one of Hall or Knobel. Simmonds, Patto & a kid ( Graham is a kid ) or two just wont cut it. That said, both of them seem to be stuffed injury-wise, so mightn't have a lot of choice here but to cut them and hope.

I'd probably keep Meyer and JON, just because as 1st rnd picks, you'd hope they have enough potential to come good.

Agree with the rest though, so...

P.Bowden
Brown,
Coughlan
Hall ( depending in injury/replacement )
Hartigan
Hyde
Jackson
Johnson
Kingsley
Knobel
Krakouer
Meyer
Oakley-Nicholls
Tivendale

So 7 gone, including Gaspar.

1 spot for King, 1 for PSD, gives us 5 picks. ( 6 if we replace Hall in the PSD )

You speak too much sense for Big Footy! Leave now!

1 spot for king you are joking arent you develop Graham keep hall or Knobel not sure where you are coming from.

King gets elevated to the main list, Graham remains a rookie. Gus just isn't good enough yet, and while he might get there, as he's only likely to play for Coburg next year unless there are injuries, keep him on the rookie list.

The Hall/Knobel comment is because as a list, we'd want at least 2 'mature' ruckmen, + Patto ( who is a good backup/2nd ruck, but not 1st line yet ). So, Simmonds & who? Graham, or a draftee wont cut it. Hopefully we'll be able to recruit someone good via the PSD, and cut both Hall and Knobel, but if we don't have someone lined up, we'll have to look at keeping one of them, depending on their injuries.
