Its not there money simple as that. The women need to fund themselves, they want more money, get bigger sponsors make people pay to come watch.

End of the day, men go on strike, the league is stuffed. All the power lies with the men. There is no way the NBA players would tolerate this in the USA and neither should the AFL players. They get at best 10 to 15 years to ply their trade, they are entitled to every cent they earn.

It took the men over 100 years to get the game where it is, the woman have contributed next to nothing in the growth of the game. The Men used to work full time jobs and play for next to nothing. Woman can do the same, its only fair we treat them the same in the name of equality. You want it, earn it.

So Gil decides to double the pay for the women in AFLW despite there being no money for it, then asks the men to stump up the cash.

Sounds like a well considered plan.

The men get paid based on revenue sharing. And the model works. But... not for the AFLW ?

Collingwood Football Club president Eddie McGuire refuted Price’s comments saying that the women’s game had “absolutely made football so much money in the last three years” and calling the women’s game a “an absolute revolution for our game – it’s the next stage”. McGuire’s comments about the AFLW were echoed by former Adelaide Crows player Mark Ricciuto who said that Adelaide’s AFLW team had been profitable since day one. “We’ve got some big sponsors on board as a result of women’s footy,” he said.

For AFL clubs with an AFLW team, the growth in memberships and sales of –admittedly often somewhat limited – merchandise, alongside new sponsors are undoubtedly making those clubs money. On a broader scale, the growth of the game thanks to the increased participation of women and girls is making a real contribution at the grassroots level. Ask any local club which is bursting at the seams with girls and women keen to play footy.

I would have thought that given the AFLW is increasing the customer base of the game and making more money for clubs - improving the product makes perfect sense in the long term. The better the players, the better the product. The better the product, more customers.

Giving the women players more money is about allowing them to focus more on improving their game.

Very short sighted for people to not see something so obvious.

So the AFL should just give the male players a lot more money for no increased revenue and that will improve the game too?

I mean, only about 10% of players seem capable of kicking with their off foot.

Of course the people involved are going to lie and say its good. They use the funding for the AFLW to buy equipment and trainers which can be used for the men. Its just another way of getting around the soft cap.

Giving them money doesn't improve them.

Giving them money means they can cut their hours at the local sports shop or Liquorland and train instead.

Ball skills were better 30 and 40 years ago than they are now. And back then they were plumbers, builders, school teachers, etc.

Training today is about fitness and outlasting your opponent. Back then players chose to work extra time on their skills. Now its a full time job they clock off at the agreed time based on the AFLPA agreement. Half of players admitted they dont even watch football.

Where do you think football would be without women?

They did not develop the game. Simple and undeniable fact. Men started it, men developed it and men play it a lot better.

I know you woke folk don't like facts but the facts are Australia rules football was developed by men into the game it is today. For the majority of time they were at best poorly paid. You probably believe that ad about the Nan with dementia playing for a Geelong as a your lady is real. Geelong never had a female team in that era.

Are you a politician by any chance? Make crap up like one.
