Flags don't define how good a player is or was, at all.Goddard - 300+ games
Cooney - Brownlow
Rayner - 2 flags (back to back)
Murphy - ???
Sam Walsh ????
Especially when your contribution to all your grand finals is a sub 13 disposal average and sub 1 goal a game.Flags don't define how good a player is or was, at all.
The problem with Rohan was that he had all of the physical tools to become a very good player in the current game, but apart from a few teasing moments, he was incredibly underwhelming. Is there a worse 200 gamer?

Do they win the prelim against the cats in 24 without him? A player's contribution to a flag is more than just how they perform on the dayEspecially when your contribution to all your grand finals is a sub 13 disposal average and sub 1 goal a game.
I like Rayner and think he's a tick, but Brisbane win those flags with or without him.

I meant Joel Selwood. My bad. I knew someone came in and impressedHawkins had already impressed the week before.
Lol a poor man's Darren Bewick from memory.Alan Ezard
Yep, I know that. But he came to Melbourne with quite the reputation and, as a result, quite the transfer fee request as well.Five flags in a row with Sturt.
Fig also said yes to Norf before turn-coating to the Pies, costing himself 2, probably more flags (maybe 94,97,98 with him kicking to Carey).Figjam I want out Brisbane I want to win flags with collingwood, got a norm Smith voted on at 3/4 time and shared a 3 way sympathy vote brownlow .
They kinda do if you play well in GFs though. Stuey Dew is your perfect example of this. Parlayed 15 mins of utter brilliance into 20 years at $500k+ pa. No wonder he's a little chubby.Flags don't define how good a player is or was, at all.

Made millions though, good for him.

Disagree. That's not the debate.Yeh nah.
For example Nathan Buckley was a levels better footballer than Shaun Hart. Both have 1 Norm, and Hart has multiple flags.
It has zero bearing. Its a team game, teams have success, others don't.
Tom Boyd has a flag, Nick Riewoldt doesnt. Regardless of Grand Final performances, nothing changes who was the better player.
The debate is flags have no influence on the quality of a player during or post career.Disagree. That's not the debate.
Ok agree. Still remember Andrew McLeod because of what he did in 1997&1998, not really anything else. Sorry if I framed it wrong. The debate is flags have no influence on the quality of a player during or post career.
Its just a plain out and out fact.
Dew had a great 15 minutes, fantastic, but did that make him an overall better player, no.
He always looked like an unmade bed..looked like a tramp in hi Brisbane years

No current season stats available
I don't watch Footy unless my team is playing. No interest. But Mcleod was a top player in the league for good on a decade.
Should've won a brownlow if not for being robbed of votes in a clear BOG performance.
If you only think of him from Grand Finals then thats on you for being a casual.
