Andrew Johns from Sturt declined to join. Crows really wanted him.
Regularly racked up 30-40 touches a week and was a goal kicker.
John Richter maybe? possibly John Paynter though he'd have been 28 then and far too young to be picked on the Crows inaugural list

Bruce Lindsay was a great player but I agree that they rewarded some of the older players for loyalty when they should have been getting a lot more youngsgers. SOme of the youngsters we did get were some of our best ever players, Rehn, Smart, Hart and Ricciutio etc.
Lindsay was a very special player before he did his knee, absolutely wrecked his knee. When he was a youngfella, he was very quick, skillful and reguarly took 3 contenders for mark of the year each match. Whilst he did well to come back he was always a pale version of what he was. I get the idea that the selections done for the first list worked on the basis that we were thrashing the Vics in SOO footy so we just needed to grab as many of those as possible so we would walk in the flag first year.
