I was trying to say, it's your opinion who is the top 10 players.
He has the ability to, whether he does is unknown. Has skills that are rare to find, Judd like pace and power out of a pack just needs to put it all together. More often than not players are in the what if category than they become that player but it's not out of the question. I see Mckercher, Sheezel and Larkey as more of a danger when my team plays the roos though.

It’s been a long time since a north player was a danger to Geelong

I'd be more inclined to look at the top 50 or so as Elite. Top 10 is a bit tight. You would probably be leaving out guys who are arguably best in their position like key defenders as well as small and medium forwards and backs. Over the last few years, the top 10 has probably been 8 mids + Gawn and Cameron.

I’m gonna go the opposite way and say that Jordan De Goey is gonna fall off an absolute cliff whilst Collingwood slide. Looks good in a winning side but injury prone and not professional enough.

Trade bait at end of year.

Its hard to compare other roles to mids, mids get the touches and theyre always around the ball.

Other roles are a bit more reliant on mids doing their job

Personally I use AA squad level as elite or A-grader

From Freo, Neil Erasmus and Jye Amiss.

Think Amiss found his confidence again through last year and is ready to pop with some role changes, and Erasmus finished the year strongly, finally picked up the pace of the game, and is physically and mentally ready now for the contested role he suits.

The 30th best mid might be in the top 50 but Im not sure they are "elite", but the second or 3rd best key backs and small forwards might not be in the top 50 but would be elite for their position.

I probably have it top 3-5 for each position but maybe more for the midfield as their are more mids than other roles (unless you break it down to inside/outside mids in their own groups)

I'm interested to see what NAS does. Not sure it's possible to replicate that purple patch he had last year. Where will his level be when he's playing midfield full time and opponents put time into him.

For Freo it’s a couple of veterans actually, Sam Swittkowski and Alex Pearce if they (somehow) managed full seasons then I think they would be talked about as in the best handful of players of their type in the comp

Problem is both of them getting a full year in is 100/1

Most people probably would have them in Freo’s top 10 most important but they are

As a side note Alex Pearce’s game from 10 mins before 1/2 time till 20 mins into the last qtr in the elimination final loss kind of got lost in the disappointment for Freo and excitement of GC’s first final win but I don’t remember too many teams who’ve (almost) been dragged across the line in a final by a KPD

One of the best patches of footy by a full back in a final of all time

For Freo, I would have thought Josh Treacy would be a standout to elevate himself from a B level player to an A grader. I can easily see him kicking 50+ this year and leading the Dockers forwards. I rate him very highly.

I think Port will be putting a lot of faith in the young KPP’s who are incredibly highly rated internally to be walk up best 22 selections.

Ramm
Visentini
Whitlock

Ratugolea will be interesting too. Played the 2nd highest rated month of football for any KPD of the last 2 years (Sam Taylor #1) before he got injured and was out for the season.

Treacy looks like a jet. Interested to see if Voss also elevates himself.

It's time Zac Reid started fulfilling his potential, missed 1pre season session through training loads but flying apart from that.

In terms of players returning to the potential,Darcy Parish looks good in pre season, he was AA so it is there.

Not an expert on Essendon, but Essendon's lineups this year - if all fit - going to be like 10-12 different players from most rounds last year, be my rough guess. And should be much better for it.

Fair enough, i agree its a pretty speculative thing beyond maybe two or three players.

He's on the big bucks this year. He needs to be seen to earn them. Almost has to take that next step.

I see Mckercher, Sheezel and Larkey as more of a danger when my team plays the roos though.
When he moved into the midfield in 2024 around the bye Sheezel averaged 29.7 disposals (over 12 contested), 1.2 goals, 1.3 goal assists and just under 7 score involvements per game.

If he does that again for this whole season he'd have gone up a tier from 2025 imo. When we played you in Hobart in 2024 he was dominant. He had 25 contested possessions. In a good/balanced team that would have been a match winning performance.

There's a bunch of young North players who, if they all jump a tier, will really make a difference to how well we do. (Some of those jumps are from 10 games and often injured to regularly a good player - ie they wouldn't really make many people sit up and take notice.)

They were pushing top 4 the previous seasons before fading. They found some players and got some exposure into their kids. They could be the one that surprises and wins 12 games from the bottom 6. Injuries going well of course

Powell could as well with opportunities go to a very good level. Still have hope for Duursma as well just needs to string a few together.

How is ZZ travelling?
Slower burn I think. From reports he has caught the eye mostly in the ruck/ forward role. Most of us hope he and Curtin will become options as key defenders for team balance. Anyway very early days.

With Oscar gone, Draper down and Smith reportedly in a moon boot there may be a chance for some games early in the season for Curtin or ZZ to partner Fort.

Dudley for the dockers
Came in with no fitness
Played 15 games brilliant moments but disappeared for large parts due mainly to fitness and a bit getting his head around the tempo of AFL.
Heard he’s in good shape
Will move into
30 goals and a best 23 lock tier player in 2026.

Young
Will get a healthy run and move to Brayshaw serong tier as AA BnF winners

Think Dudley was really highly regarded as a junior but had a rough upbringing. Fingers crossed he becomes what he should be.

That midfield trio with Jackson is elite, Young feels like he has only scratched the surface. Amiss is the one for you guys imo, looked like a star in year 1 and now he’s third banana.

Hawthorn-
Mckenzie- Top 5 b and f
Schubert- Plays 15 plus games.
Mcdonald- AA squad
There is almost no chance of any of these things happening.
McDonald plays high half forward, he'd need to kick 50+ to get in ahead of a midfielder or genuine small.

McKenzie is a talent with it all before him, but something has to have gone seriously wrong to a lot of players for him to leapfrog to place top 5 in the B&F.

Schubert will be lucky to play 2-3 games at best, he's behind all of Chol, Dear, Ramsden, Lewis and Gunston, and is very raw.
