Hmmm this is a bit of an interesting stat.

Why do you rekon it was that no one played 100+ games for 2 clubs before 1981 and since then there have been 34 that have done this?? Maybe because players were more loyal to their club or something along those lines.

You'd have to think it's money-related most of the time. In past eras the players all had "real jobs" outside of footy and would've had little incentive to leave in the prime of their careers. Needs to be looked at on a case by case basis though, e.g. Rocca - delisted, Paxman - club folded etc.

There are some players who played 100 senior games for three different clubs.

Barry Round played 135 games for Footscray, 193 for South Melbourne/Sydney and then 110 for Williamstown in the VFA.

Tony McGuinness played 112 for Glenelg before playing 109 for Footscray and then 113 for Adelaide.

Darren Jarman played 118 games for North Adelaide, 109 for Hawthorn and 121 for Adelaide.

There is also a player named David Christy who is in the Australian Football Hall of Fame, who played between 1885 and 1911. He is believed to have played 102 games for Ballarat in the VFA, then a further 110 for Melbourne in the VFA before crossing to the WAFL where he played 198 games for East Fremantle.
