Players that most deserved a flag

Bullshit term. No one deserves it more than the next guy. It's a team sport, and if you're basing it on effort I'd say 99 percent of players have been giving it their all in their footballing careers. If they haven't, there's something wrong.

FB: K.Simpson - D. Neitz - A. Bews
HB: B. Murphy - P. Roos - R. Flower
C: G. Ablett Sr - B. Skilton - H. Bunton Sr
HF: M. Richardson - N. Riewoldt - C. Grant
FF: P. Kelly - T. Lockett - E. Betts
Foll: G. Dempsey - R. Harvey - N Buckley
INT: M. Pavlich - K. Murray - J. Stynes - B. Quinlan

Phillip Matera and Matt Priddis would be among the least fortunate eagles to have retired without a flag.

Sad that Nick Riewoldt couldn't quite get there.

Of course they don't but it's probably just semantics. Players whom it would be nice if they got to win a flag is probably more accurate.

Winning a premiership has a not insignificant element of being at the right place at the right time - just ask Fletcher Roberts.

Roberts deserved his medal, he did more in that game than what Stringer did with his one kick

James Sicily has endured the tough times of Hawthorn's premiership drought and been stalwart since he became a senior regular in 2016.

He is also one of the most universally-liked characters in the game

He definitely deserves a premiership
Agreed. Such a gracious young man.

He is everyone's favourite outside of their own clubs.

Matthew Pavlich
Nick Riewoldt
Robert Harvey
Robbie Flower

All good guys, clean & fair, and superstars in their own right, just never had the team to fill the (premiership) gap.

Of course the Saints were more than capable. To lose two in such heartbreaking circumstances..
