Freo's midfield provides a terrific model for our recruitment and player development. They don't depend on one player to move the ball from the centre or stoppages and they give young kids such as Neale an opportunity to run through there. Maybe we need Sumich with the Lyon gameplan and Lloyd's recruitment profiling system....

The most rational explanation of why a midfield centred around Ploddus does not work.

It's their tall midfielders that do the damage. Time and time gain they raise their arms and clear the ball with this tactic.

Mundy, Fyfe and Barlow are the ones that are experts at it. No surprises as they are all 6 foot 3.

When was the last time we had some height in the middle?

Hmm and heres me thinking there were 22 players per team. Maybe I went to the wrong school but that equals 44?

You have forgotten what it was like to have the like of Judd, Cousins, Kerr, Matera, Mainwaring, Kemp, Braun, Fletcher and others who actually win the hard ball run with pace AND hit up targets under pressure.

Go back and watch some videos you might actually be enlightened to some hard facts about Priddis. Make sure you are sitting down though because you might faint under the shock.

The 50+ would include coaches, etc.

The only hard ball Fletch ever won would have been off-season in Vegas.

No I got the reference but not being able to win a hardball, not so much.

Fair enough. Always thought he was a sea gull, outside player, noted for his handball receives and efficient (one-sided) kicking. Anyhow, pretty irrelevant to this thread. Fletch was a good player, and a lad. Was merely making a joke, not trying to piss anyone off.

Does NN count? Not only a gun ruckman, but excellent clearance mid at the same time :thumbsu:
