With Rivers signing to Geelong, Gillies may be a realistic option to have a look at?
Would have to think guys like he & Mitch Brown (of the Geelong variety) would now be on the market.
Guess the question is what do Geelong want (our 2nd rd pick is likely to end up, after FA compo, around the pick 46 mark), does Gillies want more of a chance of a starting 22 spot elsewhere and do we have the salary cap space?
Certainly has looked OK when I've seen him.
We've been fairly lucky with injuries. We have Ted, Reg, AJ & LRT for the 3 KPD spots.
We're a bit light on after that (Spangher, Brown, Lockyer, Walsh). And of that 3 only Brown is likely to be developed as a KPD.
I think we do have the list space, without delisting anyone else.
As I understand it next year all club lists will be 40 (no veterans inside/outside etc, although vets will count for salary cap purposes).
This year we had a senior list of 38.
Moore. Seaby out.
Tippett/White cancel each other out, so 4 available spots.
If Jude quits it would presumably provide enough salary cap space for a ready made player.
tl;dr
Looks OK, not sure if we can get him or he'd be interested.
