I am wanting to know which players on the list do you think are at risk of not seeing the next season in navy blue? Which players have to make a difference to maintain their place at the club?
It could look like they might never get back in. But we never know. One could hit their straps and survive the next off-season.
Provide names and give a reason. Here is my list (don't have to do it exactly like mine and it does not have to be as detailed):
Dennis Armfield - I think we all are noticing that ever since Malthouse has came to the club, Armfield has been out of favour. He has great speed, but where does he play now, given that all of the positions are filled? And since he is heading towards the end of his career, we might not see him in the Carlton Guernsey much anymore. Many would have to get injured for Armfield to be next in line.
Robert Warnock - It is risky, getting rid of a ruckman as they are hard to replace. I noticed that many of us who were comparing Warnock and Wood's performances realised that Wood played much better in a smaller number of games. And plus, Warnock is only known for the ruck work. Where else can he play? Surely not forward. I have seen him shank the ball dozens of times. My brother even criticises his performances.
Matthew Kreuzer - It is quite obvious Kreuzer is prone to a lot of injuries. I hear the media talking up Carlton's chance of trading him for someone just as good when fit. That does not seem like a good move. But I don't know what the people working within the club are thinking.
Blaine Johnson - We saw glimpses of his game both in the preseason and last year. Mick seems pleased with his work ethic. But I don't think anybody else sees it like he does. I feel he needs to put on a few kg if he wants to be a more effective player.
Cameron Giles - It seems harsh but I can't see Giles lasting long on our list. The injury he has suffered does indeed take a long time to recover from. I just question how much more time will the club give him to get back on track.
I don't wish to see anybody leave, but changes have to be made at the end of every season.
But also with Judd, Simpson, Walker and Carrazzo being in the twilight years of their careers. It might save a few players, if any choose to call it quits.
