It will be very close between Hale & Burgoyne if they play more games with the Hawks before they retire. Burger is a lock to play every game, barring injury of course. Hale has Cegs breathing down his neck & appears no certainty to hold his position for the next 2 years at least.

I would love Burgoyne to play another 5 seasons.
Heard Anthony Hudson and Cam Mooney discussing our list on 3AW this morning and they said that "Jed Anderson would be eyeing off Burgoyne's spot in the team". First reaction was that there is no way Burgoyne would be transitioned out of the team but the more I thought about it i realised that at some point someone has to make way for Jed and given his age and skill set it makes sense that this would be the "swap".

I've come to think (part observation, part listening to others) that Jedi plays in the Hodge mould. Not yet the clean-up HBF, but the bustling (developing) mid of Hodge circa 2003/4).
I'd happily see Burgoyne play another full season in his current role then take a role similar to Giansiracusa this year (2014) - the dedicated Sub. Burgoyne is both explosive & immaculate - he's almost a contradiction in skill-sets. Bring him on with 25 mins to play for 15 games a year as a pure mid & watch him revisit his devastating best in 2016 (as a 4-time Premiership Champion!)!

If you search google for images for Brian Lake you will find more than 60% of them are in Hawthorn colours, most of the rest are split between suits (tribunal visits), Footscray kit and casuals. Some of the images while at Hawthorn are very powerful and reflective of his significant achievements with us, both good & bad, eg holding two cups, the norm smith medal (+ cup), choking Petrie etc. The percentage of Hawthorn pictures will just get greater with time, so I expect he will be remembered more as a Hawk, except perhaps by Doggie supporters.

I never saw him play for Souths , so in my mind he is a Hawk , and he was on match committee under yabby during the eighties. Him in the number #1 is one of my earliest footy memories.

He played in 1978 premiership side but he didn't get off the bench did he ?
He is a Life Time Member so I think he thinks himself as a hawk. I know his son is a hawk.
