Whats Kyle Hawksely from Brisbane like? Rumours saints are after him.
Hahahahaha, I think your thinking of James Hawksley or Kyal Horsley or some sort of centaur creature involving the both of them. I believe it was Brisbane's James Hawksley you were after before trade period last year. I'll put it this way, Jarrod Oakley-Nicholls would run rings around him, he is that bad.

Harsh. Jimmy Hawks is a decent player. Probably the most talented of our delistees. Just prone to a clanger or two.

Neeld knocks back a second rounder for Bate, and then delists him. Crazy stuff.

I could see Raph Clark getting another go ...
Neeld wanted to see if he could get something out of him.

He in fact said he wouldn't attack the list until this year as he wanted to give the players the opportunity to prove themselves.

I'm at a loss to explain one strength he has. Just think about it: He's not quick, His skills are poor consistently, Not overly strong, doesn't have the height/weight/strength to ever really contest a pack mark (or even a 1-1), Decision making poor. Good on him thanks for the service, I do hope he finds another club but he's hopeless and surely Retzlaff has the most upside of all the delistees.

Contracted, Watters says he values him so I expect he'll be in the 22 more often next year
Would it have been worthwhile to cash in on Ray whilst he was still in demand this season as opposed to waiting another year?

Has kind of a Matthew Bate feel about it where the Dees were offered a pick in the 30-40s for him at the end of 2011 and declined only for him to be delisted today.

IMO, sometimes clubs/coaches "value" players a little too much which clouds their judgment on the reality.

He was actually pretty good for us when given full games, and I think with Clint Jones being pushed out of the side Ray could become our designated run with player. And the pick we probably would've received (49) is one we probably wouldn't use anyway.

Orren Stephenson should get another gig. He showed a bit this year and pleasingly his two best games were against good teams (Hawks & Pies).

Yeah I agree, showed quite a bit. If hille called time I would have wanted us to have a look. At worst he goes back to the vfl and dominates there

Well, he has been delisted. So, what's got to do with him? Maybe, he will get a new home in November, I'm sure.
What are you on about? He quite GC a couple of months ago to return to SA. If he isn't playing for Adelaide or Port next season, he'll be playing SANFL.

As saintsrfreak said, we had no interest in using any draft picks over 45 and 49 was the best we were likely to get for Ray in the end, so trading him for 49 would have been like delisting him and he is way too useful to just delist, or trade for a pick we wouldn't have used. He's still only 26, rarely gets injured and is pretty consistent, experienced and versatile. If we're going to lose him for virtually nothing, we'd rather do it after having his services for at least another year. He was also very stiff to not play most games this year (having said that, there will be more "kids" ready to get games next year and he would be one of the first most likely to make way for them, when we want to get them senior games).

We were hoping that Melbourne would get pick 33 from Brisbane for Stefan Martin, as, I imagine, were Melbourne. If that had happened then we would have been prepared to trade Ray for that pick (even if we gave back one like 44, I imagine), but when Melbourne only got 50's and 70's picks for Martin, that potential deal for Ray got killed off. Maybe we should have offered Brisbane pick 44 to go with Martin, in a 3-way deal (Martin and pick 44 to Brisbane, pick 33 to us, Ray to Melbourne), to help get that done, but I think we were too distracted with our Brown negotiations to do much else on the last day of trading.

Raph Clarke would take a one year deal from St Kilda if they offer him one you would imagine.
Maybe, but the chances of that happening are very remote, I believe, as we need to cut at least two more from our list I've heard and he is possibly the only one that isn't contracted for next season, so he is almost certain to go. He's had more than enough chances, spent most of this year in the VFL and would be even less likely to get a game with us next year.

GWS could do a lot worse than to pick him up, since they have identified run off HB as a major area they are lacking and failed to attract anyone experienced through FA or trading to fill that need. He can do that well enough for them for at least a year, while they develop someone else. He will show them how to get run down from behind with the ball, but will also show them how to put your body on the line and how to give everything you've got. SOS coached him at St Kilda, so he'll know if he's worth getting or not.

Not sure how we are going to fit everyone in. Only McKinley, Warren and Garlett remain out of contract. Matt Campbell is contracted, but unwanted. Might get paid out.

But to fit all our upgrades and draft picks in we'd probably need to delist at least another 2. And then maybe put them on the rookie list, so possibly Ben Mabon and Cam Richardson.

WCE fans, tell me about Strijk. Will he find another home?

I like him classy, quick, with great skills especially when kicking for goal. Just one of those players who was always first dropped, even after playing a good game. A typical coach doesn't like player.

He has all the qualities to be a good AFL footballer (not battler) except one, endurance.

I don't know if his heart condition stalled his development re fitness for a while, but he still needs some work in that area.

Otherwise, booming and deadly accurate kick, decent height, very strong bodied, great contested mark and a good finisher. If he can add to his fitness base he could definitely become a quality AFL level HFF. A snag though is, he was a earning a fair bit as a fridge mechanic before being rookie listed by WC. Had to take a big pay cut and largely due to circumstances outside his control it hasn't worked out. I wonder if he will be willing to take the risk again.

If we dont pick up Retzlaff as a Rookie he would be worth a punt. Although he is recovering from a midseason ACL, he was kicking bags for us in the reserves and looked garenteed a few senior games before the injury.

Stiller is also another one that may get an option somewhere else...26yos and dead on 100 games...Although I suspect Salopek would be clubs choice over him.

GWS should go for Stiller for midfield depth

God i hope we don't we already got one ranga this trade period with him and Julia as our no 1 fan we are ranga'd out!

On a serious note, wouldn't want him now, just a battler, Melbourne should have taken the 2nd round draft pick offered last year. Hindsight is always a good thing though....
We got Talia with that pick, happy that trade went nowhere
