I can only see one on the top possesions tally and that is
Josh Kennedy (Syd) in 2016 in a losing side.
He had 34 touches and 3 goals.
Peter Bell
31 and 4 goals.
Issac Smith this year as well
32 possesions and 3 goals.

Any other ones?

Diesel had 31 and 5 in 1995…

It is hard to fathom how a guy so small, so slow and rejected by clubs can be so great (especially when it counts)

Just looking at the recorded stats for the 1995 on afl tables and there are only 22 hitouts recorded and 33 goals scored. I haven’t watched too many replays because of Geelong getting pumped but there must of been either some bad bounces or some hopeless attempts haha 😂

Matthews had 28 and 4 in 1978. No-one else had more possessions on the da
Pretty sure Geelong didn't reject him, they couldn't match the money Sydney offered him.
Yes he won our best and fairest in 85 and then was traded and won a Brownlow the year after at Sydney in 86.

From what I can see anyway.
Would of been nice with him couch hocking and bairstow getting it down to Ablett.

One game in the 90’s I saw him win a centre clearance, tuck the ball under his left arm, point with his right hand where he wanted Steve Kernahan to run to, and then kick it down his throat.
The bloke was an absolute champion.

Diesel has said in the past (might have been his early Open Mike interview) he would have stayed at Geelong if they could have paid him 5K more than his contract at the time and I think it was Ron Hovey who said No

Imagine if Diesel was feed GAZ Snr for 15 years

Thought I'd look up Materas 5 goal effort in the 92 GF thinking he must surely have gone close to 30 touches. Only 18 as it turned out which is low- average for a winger but still one of the most dominant GF performances I can recall.

Ablett Snr (1989) 15 and 9 goals

Ablett Jnr (2008) 34 and 2 goals

SJ (2007) 23 and 4 goals

Bartel (2011) 26 and 3 goals

Smith (2022) 32 and 3 goals

still not quite there but impressive regardless
All nearly up there with Dusty.:)

A few good efforts in 2018 GF, but didn't hit the goals:

Shuey 34 disposals 1.1
Sheed 32 and 1.0
Taylor Adams 31 and 1.0

Ablett Snr (1989) 15 and 9 goals

Ablett Jnr (2008) 34 and 2 goals

Smith (2022) 32 and 3 goals

Our best would be Darren Jarman (1997) 19 possessions & 6 goals.

Slightly down in 1998 with 14 possessions & 5 goals.

Combined 33 possessions & 11 goals in back to back grand finals.

Seeing as everyone is ignoring the criteria set by the OP I’ll do the same and mention Kevin Bartletts 7goal- 21 possession game in the 1980 grand final
